1. There is no actual proof of a Roman census, such a thing would be documented (which it isn't)
2. The shepherds wouldn't be out in Palestinian winter time
3. Jesus wasn't born in winter
4. What happened to angels coming down to Earth? It seemed to happen waaaay more frequently before the camera was invented
5. Christmas was invented by the pagans and outlawed by Christians until the early 1700s |

It doesn't say anywhere in the Bible that Jesus was born in the winter. So, therefore, your point about the Shepherds in the winter is also invalid. As far as the Roman census, well, records from long ago get lost.

"a fraud created by jews"
Most Jews didn't even accept Christ as their Messiah, so think again.

Well, Christians have always celebrated Christ's birth in one way or another, but I think it was actually Americans who coined the term "Christmas."
I could be wrong, though.

@senor
When you say "Yeshua" are you refering to Jesus?
Because "Yeshua" is "Joshua" which is technically Jesus's name. Jesus is Greek for Joshua.

this is a perfect example christmas is a christian holiday- you cant just tell christians to not celebrate it.
it is believed that Jesus was born in winter, although there is no proof to consider this.
Excuse me, but that's inappropriate for school. |

"As far as the Roman census, well, records from long ago get lost"
yes but a massive census happening throughout the entire roman empire would be almost impossible to lose track of. there would be records of it in every single town and city in the roman empire. |

@14prind
Eh, true. But when an empire falls, stuff probably does get lost, no matter how big.
Maybe there is a record of it that we just haven't found yet!

''if i recall correctly, the original tradition was germanic by origin''' Germanic religion is ocasionally considered Paganism. Guess that makes reasonable sense. And true, the Christmas tree was a Germanic thing, where they well, worshipped the tree. I believe it was a symbol for nature but I'm not sure. |

it is possible that they where lost but it is not probable. also considering that the concept of the census is rather unusual to say the least it is extremely unlikely that it took place. |
