| Plants aren't sentient. Sure, you are killing the plants, but they were never alive in the same way that animals are. |

"Plants aren't sentient."
Animals don't have self-awareness. |

| And when I say "animals", I mean the majority of animals in the animal kingdom, excluding Humans, Apes, Dolphins and a few other exceptions. |

''Animals don't have self-awareness.'' That's a matter of debate though isn't it? |

| Well people still have to be sure to kill animals in a humane way. Otherwise it can be charged for animal cruelty, I think. |

| Well, you can debate anything you want to, but debating a fact can sometimes be called lying or avoiding the truth. |

| It's definitely debatable whether animals have self-awareness or not, and like you mentioned, it very much depends on the species. |

"So because there not sentient it okays to tear their heads off?"
According to human perspective and rights, yes.
Same goes for most animals, though some countries have humane laws in place to help reduce "inhumane" killings. |

@calum
self awareness =/= sentinence
even the stupidest animals can experience emotion. plants just grow, eat, reproduce, they don't feel. |

| Animals can feel pain, yes. But that's why you gotta make it quick. |

| I say that if we kill an animal with a small amount of pain and put the carcass to good use, then it's ok. |

"self awareness =/= sentinence"
But sentience doesn't matter when it comes to rights. Self-awareness does. |
