You're celebrating a holiday that supposedly has ties to Jesus, yet you dont believe in him. Seems like your renouncing your beliefs(or in this case, disbelief). Reminds me of when Atheists say "Bless you" when a person sneezes. |

I agree with the first one, but the second one has been around for quite a time and is just being nice.

Only the fact that its celebrated on the 25th which is believed to be his birthday,so they celebrate it on that to honor his birth. |

| I disagree, it doesn't matter actually, Christmas has become a day when family comes together and has a good time. |

| better question is why Christians are celebrating it? Christmas is just a re-branding of Saturnalia with a few elements of yule and Hanukkah thrown in. nothing new or innovative |

"Bless you" is just a phrase associated with sneezing, people aren't literally asking that person to be blessed, they are just being polite. Nothing more. Just like "oh my god". People aren't literally crying out to a god, they are just venting out their frustration.
In regards to Christmas, I think Christmas nowadays is less about the religious teachings and birth of Jesus and more about Santa Claus and presents. It wasn't like there is much of an emphasis on religion on Christmas anyway to justify saying that if an atheist partakes in it, they are saying they believe in a god.
