| Well the United States was a bunch of British colonies in the beginning, wouldn't it just make sense that the US joins the British Commonwealth. |

| just because the 13 colonies were british does not mean the US has strong enough ties to become part of the commonwealth |

britain is no longer a superpower, and the best hope of an anglo empire would be the USA so if you;re going for an anglo union, you're going to have trouble with other anglo countries not wanting to deal with the fiscal instability of other anglo countries. for eg as an Australian taxpayer there's no way in hell i'm going to sacrifice my standard of living just so some redneck in some hick town of Mississippi can get a job.
