(This is about why mouselock + WASD is the most effective keys + view combination in sword fighting.)
Basic Movement Keys and View:
---Arrow Keys--- The arrow keys move you forwards and backwards depending on what direction you are facing, that direciton being changed by the left and right arrow keys. ---WASD Keys--- The WASD keys move you forwards, backwards, left, right, or even diagnolly depending on what direction you are facing. The WASD keys cannot change the direction you are facing. ---Zoomed Out--- Being zoomed out is where you can see your character and a lot of space around it. While zoomed out the mouse can be pushed against the sides of the window to change the direction you are facing. ---Mouselock--- Mouselock is when your camera is completely zoomed in so that you cannot see your character and your mouse is locked in the center of the screen. While in Mouselock the mouse can be moved around to change the direction you are facing.
What Keys and View to Use:
The direction your character is facing can be changed in three ways: The left and right arrow keys, which change it very slowly. Using the mouse while zoomed out, which changes it fast but can take time to start if your mouse is not already on the correct edge. Using the mouse while in mouselock, which changes it fast and automatically starts changing it. Therefore, when it comes to changing the direction of your character the fastest, mouselock wins.
It is best to know where your opponent is, obviously. Being zoomed out guarantees constant knowledge of this. While in mouselock, if you are facing in the direction of your opponent (which you always should), then you will see your opponent. However, if your opponent manages to get somewhere where you cannot see them, you will have to turn until you find them, which takes up a half of a second if not more. When it comes to knowing where your opponent is, zoomed out wins, but only by a little bit. If mouselock is used correctly, you should always know where your opponent is.
Moving in any direction is better than moving in eight directions which is better than moving in two. Mouselock + WASD lets you move in virtually any direction (because of the almost immediate speed with which you can change the direction you are facing) while facing either that direction or at an angle of 45, 90, 135, or 180 degrees from that direction. Zoomed out + WASD lets you move in eight directions which can be changed somewhat speedily with the mouse. Mouselock + Arrow Keys lets you move in virtually any direction while facing either that direction or opposite of it. Zoomed Out + Arrow Keys lets you move in two directions which can be changed somewhat speedily with the mouse.
WASD is much better than the Arrow Keys, even though it can not change the direction faced, because the direction faced can be changed much faster in any camera mode.
Mouselock changes the direction faced faster than being Zoomed Out, while being Zoomed Out protects against the occasional case of not knowing where your opponent is.
Mouselock’s almost immediate changing of the direction faced is much more important than protecting yourself against a mistake which you can easily learn not to make and to recover from, therefore Mouselock + WASD is the best view to use.

"Mouselock is when your camera is completely zoomed in so that you cannot see your character and your mouse is locked in the center of the screen. While in Mouselock the mouse can be moved around to change the direction you are facing." "Mouselock is when your camera is completely zoomed in" No that's first person, child.

Mouselock doesn't always work well. WASD alone is the best. |

CLARIFICATION I am talking about sword fighting with a normal slashing sword, not something like Crimson Periastron Mu which has a completely different mode of attack. |

@rocksrolling749 Personal Success is great. I never said any of this guaranteed you to lose. However, by reasons, i mean logical reasons, not personal experience with a certain mode of play. |
