I want to get better at art and start a drawing after my homework which I'm probably start at like 5:30 P.M., but I have a hard time motivating myself. I'm actually embarrassed of the stuff I produce.
So uh, how do I look at it more positively? Also, if you want you can make recommendations for me to draw, though keep it simple. |

| When it comes to hobbies, motivation is either there or it isn't. If you're not passionate about art, that's just it. There's no secret trick behind motivating yourself. |

| I'm the same way. I say just draw, don't think of what others might think of it. Just do what you like and have fun with it. If people want to think badly of what you have created, then that's their problem. |

That's what people have been telling me. But I do want to make stuff that looks good. It's something I'd like to be able to say I can do. I just...I feel like I procrastinate and that's the issue.
@Super
Well yea, but I think badly of my own stuff. And I know it's bad, I really do. |

I do too. I just try not to think of it. |

| @Bring - if you think your drawing is bad, improve from your mistakes. |

I see. I should warn you though: attempting to acquire a skill for the sake of having it requires a ridiculous amount of discipline. It won't be any sort of fun. |

| I used to draw all the time, But then I realized how dumb my drawing things were and I can't come up with any not insane ideas. |

I have fun with drawing but the worry that you'll never get good is stressful. |

Oh, nvm. If it's fun for you, you've got a chance. That changes everything. I have the same odd problem with marimba playing. I'd like to get better, but it requires work. Work stinks. |

uh
for me i usually end up drawing really well at 1 in the morning when im tired and bored
i still haven't found a way to be motivated to draw though. maybe if you have something really old that you drew, try redrawing it to see how you've improved. |

| I have a really cartoony way of drawing things when I'm not working by looking at a picture. I don't draw enough to be able to draw anything from memory though |

Well I'll admit I'm conflicted a bit.
I sometimes get sort of caught up in it, like hey I might have a shot of improving, yet at other times it feels like...well, "UGH THIS IS AWFUL THE ANATOMY IS WRONG NO ONE WILL LIKE THIS I DON'T LIKE THIS EW I WORKED FORTY MINUTES FOR THIS TRAVESTY?"
Exaggerated a bit maybe but still.
@The
I don't have anything that's like super old ATM. |

| If you think what you've drawn is a travesty I have a mummy case that looks like it was designed with multiple conflicting art styles |

1. Listen to music 2. Go on DeviantArt 3. Stare at all the really good drawings 4. Get inspired 5. Draw 6. Done |

@Mikey
Like, one is realistic and one is cartoony?
I'm sure your's is fine, but TBH when I look at something and the background is cartoony and whatever's in the foreground is realistic or something along the lines of that, it does throw me off a small bit. |

um well when I designed this mummy case which is by the way as tall as I am, I had good intentions for it. Everything was hopeful. But I had this huge empty space I had to fill in at the end and there was a small empty space at the bottom. I filled the big empty space with blue and yellow. No big deal, right? Right. Well then I decided "Why not bring the purple and green from the necklaces to other parts of the mummy?" BAD IDEA now you can't help but look at the purple |

I see. Don't worry, it was a mistake, if you tried again you'd probably do a bit better. |

well not really a mistake I wanted a focal point of my mummy case, something that would grab a person's attention first the purple did that a little too well |
