| Since Personal Servers can only have one server and they store data persistently with no character limit, they are the perfect frame for creating an MMO game. It doesn't seem like anyone else has ever even tried to do this before. Does it seem like a plausible idea? |

One of the biggest issues with the current Data Persistence is that it is not reliable at times. For example, look at this forum thread by SmoothBlockModel. http://www.roblox.com/Forum/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=118963565
As you can see, people are not willing to put forth the effort until all of the current bugs have been ironed out. It would not be a bad idea to begin the planning process, however don't expect too much success until the aforementioned issue is fixed. |

The only downside to using a PBS is the fact that you can only have 20 players in the server at a time...
Course, if you charge a lot of R$ to play, then I guess its not a bad thing. |

Yea, it isn't that much of an MMO if only 30 (I thought it was 30?) players can be in a server at one time.
I think it would be better just with ordinary data persistance, using players not servers.
MMOs will pop up everywhere once ROBLOX Universe comes out though. Trust me. |

| If a personal server is used, I see the issue of exploitation. Say someone removes the world, then you'd have to use an old backup save of the place, which essentially would rollback the players. |

| As8D did something like this, except not as an mmorpg, if you look at his wpm test, you will notice he used pbs to save everyones data so you can compare to the whle of roblox. |

| Is the personal server player limit documented somewhere? |

| I remembered earlier this year there was a server limit of 20 on PBSs.. I dunno, guess you could get a bunch of people and find out. |

| I'm almost certain the max is 30. All PBS' are data saving mega servers. |

| The maximum is 30, although it can open new servers at about 20 - 30 players |

| ROBLOX Universe is a feature that the devs are working on that allows multiple places share data persistance. |

| Before that they should make multiple servers share data. |

| As an RPG developer, multiple places would be more useful to me. |

| It doesn't matter what's more useful to who for what purpose, it doesn't make sense to have different games communicate data between each other if they can't even communicate between their own servers. |

Well think about it, this ROBLOX Universe feature's original plan (From the start of the idea a year ago) was to be able to connect up to 25 (I believe) places with data persistance.
That data is only shared between those 25 places.
However if they are shared between servers, then it would have to share the data between a lot more than just 25 (As the number of servers could be unlimited), which I would imagine would be hard on the system.
Not to say that they might not still allow sharing between servers eventually, I mean take a look at all the updates already. |

| You have absolutely no idea how anything you're trying to talk about works. Data is already stored on the servers, the only way they can communicate is if the player leaves one and joins the other. This is a restriction, not an undeveloped feature. MarketPlaceService is already harder on the system than this could ever be, so don't try to make excuses pretending like replicating text in a certain direction it wasn't replicated to before is going to make roblox's servers spontaneously explode. |

Woah there and slow down. Do I look like a developer of the site? I said "I would imagine" as in I would think, I never said that it is how it actually works, just some method to the madness.
I don't think the developers are stupid either. There would be some reason they haven't considered what you're suggesting. And whatever that reason is, they might have overcome by now.
If you feel that strongly about it, you know the forum to post in. |

| Perhaps, with the new terrain, you could make a 50% High Scalability 50% Btools (Or whatever you call it). You could have 32,000 voxels, and a bunch of buildings and such. |
