Umm...
1. Learn to script like a proffesional 2. Learn to Build Like a Proffesional 3. Build the game 4. Script the game 5. Advertise your game 6. k? ThnxBaiLedleLedle |

@Above, 4Years is no where near the amount of time.
Above all else, just learn Lua, and keep trying to learn more ways to create different games. |

"spend 3-4 years memorizing everything there is to know about scripting"
What kind of advice is that? You shouldn't be memorizing anything. |

You learn programming through years of experience.
Then, when you think "I want to make a game like [XYZ]!" the ways to create it almost instantly fall into place in your head. You should be able to start creating it from scratch right away.
That's how you make a game like that. By knowing the language very well, knowing the API like the back of your hand, and having lots of experience using it. |

| Basically, you just think of a game you want to make. When you get to something you have no idea how to code, you go and learn how to code that specific thing. Over time, the more you do this, the more you will know about the language and how to incorporate certain parts of it into a fun, playable game. |
