| I agree with this. I'm walking through the hall in school the pledge is being said and apparently I have to stop? Lol no. Arrest me for all I care if that's the law. I'll keep walking, I said that pledge a thousand times I'm done with it- I don't even like that pledge nor do I agree with any of it. |

Just the words tick me off
It makes it sound less like a patriotic duty but more like something tying you and bonding you to the us like a legal contract |

It's not the law, and the reason why they want you to stop what you're doing is #RespecBruh

Much easier to respect something that doesn't demand respect. The moment a person or image demands respect is when they lose all credibility to have any respect given to them.
@Theknight
I agree. Why does everything in america have "in/under/other words god" in it now? The pledge, the currency, the presidential inauguration. I'm pretty sure that violates the constitution in several ways and completely undermines the whole "religious freedom" aspect of the united states. |

You're not forced, but really, how about you be respectful to our God, our country, our people, and our cause for just thirty seconds out of your entire day, hmm?
We would do the same in any country. |

"Our God" as if every american is christian. The government isn't legally christian, and there is plenty of religious diversity to be found within the united states. So I'm not sure where you're getting that phrasing from. |

"Religious Freedom"
Yes, we do have religious freedom. But America was pretty much founded on Christianity. We believe in God and we don't care if other people whine about it. They have the freedom to express THEIR beliefs here to a much greater extent than in many third-world countries. The least they could do is respect our God. |

I wouldn't say that it's demanding respect.
Also, what do you mean by "Why does everything in america have "in/under/other words god" in it now?", I'm pretty sure those things where created when the country was born. Most people where religious then

Exactly. They have that freedom. Which must mean CHRISTIANS have that freedom, too.
Which means there's nothing wrong with having God in the Pledge. |

or at least where i live.
a big chunk of americans don't really respect any other countries at all.

Then if your god is in the pledge why isn't every other god in the pledge? Where's the fairness in that? |

@nathan
It's simple really, just replace the word "God" with whatever you believe in! Amazing right? (and why do people assume "God" only means the Christian god? It can be any god that you want it to be)

I recited the Canadian pledge in school once at school. I was then suspended for 14 days because of it and people at school called me a terrorist to this day.

Think back to the very first presidents and the American Revolution. America was very religious back then. So, when the pledge was written, we felt honor and pride in our name, and God's name. America is a symbol of freedom to many, and the pledge represents, well, allegiance with America.
Again, look at the third-world countries. Look at China. America lets other religions have A LOT of freedom in comparison. And again, why not keep the pledge the way it was written back in America's founding years? |

Because Christianity is the majority religion with a god named "God.", and with presidents wanting to win over the christian majority to assure victory in elections- it is all quite obvious it's not meant to be that way. |
