How would I go about doing Guis with 3D previews? Similar to ROBLOX Battle's Inventory, and The Witching Hour's Inventory. I swear ROBLOX Battle used to be uncopylocked, but that must have been another game.

It's not really a GUI, they just created a GUI + parts placed using fancy math, so they allign up with the GUI.

No, it's local parts, camera manipulation, and most GUI parts.

Not exactly 3-D unless you're gonna do it for every screen resolution and search for screen size using GetMouse() =P.

Or you could use a copy of crazyman32's camera script, render a copy of the character, which wouldn't include decals/clothing/meshes. But would still be in real time. Depending on the resolution, you might even get 1 fps.

@MHebes, i am really doubtful that roblox used images to make the 3D gui.
Reason: It would have to use about 30 fps, and it takes, about 2 seconds to rotate from 1 side to the other, there are about 5 different clothing options, meaning 25 different sets, so 30*2*25=1,500 different images...
Even if roblox did upload each image, then there would still be the ram issues and the long load time of loading each of those images.

Actually no. Assuming roblox's game application loads into RAM this wouldn't be an issue. Why? Because, RAM is faster than an SSD.

The ram issues i was referring to is roblox loads the whole game onto the ram, if there are 1,500 images, each would have about 480*480 resolution, with 24 bit resolution, 8,294,400,000 bytes which is 7.72 (rounded) gb of ram needed just for images. I don't know about you guys, but my laptop has 4 gb of ram, and uses 2.9 of those gb for the OS, and with all the stuff i have up right now(rbx studio, rbx server, chrome) that leaves 1.1 gb left for the 7.72 gb of images...
This is also infuring that Battle Roblox loads all the images at the beginning, to make you not have to wait when the gui does come up. |

Indeed. Which is why system requirements for roblox should be higher. Like 12 GB of RAM.

Roblox should be able to support any computer, not just gaming computers. Some people don't have the extra money to spend on a gaming computer verses a normal computer.

It is not the fact that you can get one, I have a very good PC, (I don't want to waste my time telling you all the stats.) but, there are some computers out there that will not be able to run games if they require that. It is a selfish idea. This is my opinion, I respect yours but, I will stick to mine within reason.

i gotta agree with flatline, i'm planning on going out and getting myself a slinky gaming computer tomorrow(google it).
jking, not many people can afford gaming computers, i have other family members that are unable to play roblox at all, since roblox system requirements are too high.

Believe it or not it 8GB will become the standard much like 4 is now. So when 12 becomes the needed amount to play games then they will not be spending much money to get the 4 extra Gigabytes.

@Jetta assuming it has an intel i3 proccessor or better make sure it has an Nividia GTX 660ti OC version or better. Otherwise you will be spending money on a nice graphics card as well.
