~ THIRTY-ROUND MAGAZINE ~
Issue 3
Hello again, my friends. You are reading issue 3 of Thirty-Round Magazine, the weekly paper which will tell YOU everything that I would have liked to know before I started keeping a close eye on current events. This week, we'll talk about the new "HOLOS" (Holographic Omnimorphic Large Obstical Simulation), some of our group policies (since a couple people don't appear to fully understand them), and what YOU can do to avoid hurting our image.
Well, the new HOLOS has been released, folks! That's right, the training center we've all been using for so long has been replaced! While I commend retired HC Starreta for making such an excellent training center, I'm afraid it's officially outdated, and your commander has worked with VO to create something more modern, using current scripting assets. ALL future trainings will be hosted here for an indefinite amount of time, with major updates being planned for the place to extend its lifespan. Due to some technical errors, however, the version you will be playing in right now will be incomplete, with placeholders being visible in certain areas of the place. Don't worry, all of this will be fixed in time. Until then, the area fits all normal purposes.
Now, I've been looking through some of the old RSO-related forum posts, and it seems that some old traitors have turned on this clan because they haven't understood our policies, and were offended when they (the ex-operatives) were challenged for breaking them. I see this as an error, and it would be best for me to make a couple things clear. First and foremost, we are a family. A family respects each of its members. However, when a member of a family breaks certain rules, there are always consequences. And when a family member has broken so many rules that they are no longer part of that family, respect is then completely optional. Secondly, we believe in individual strength over sheer numbers, but only to an extent. Certain clans which have grown in size but do not properly train their members are what we are referring to when we say this. However, the difference between a 100+ member clan and a 700+ member clan is so significant that the numbers overpower the individuals. In addition, when a 700+ member clan fights a 1000+ member clan, only so many members can be involved in the war. One can even get to a certain number where quantity does not matter, and only the design (and fairness) of bases can declare which side of the war will win.
While I tried my very best to ignore it, I can't help but notice that we still aren't recruiting to any acceptable extent. This isn't to say that none of you have been doing your job, only that some of you could do better. Some time this week, please take up to an hour out of your day to help make our clan stronger. Believe me, if you do recruit, you'll be much more satisfied with your rank (which will increase when you recruit) when newer members look to you as an idol. But some people may not always realize that when recruiting, you can actually hurt RSO. Let me go over how you can avoid weakening our clan:
- In my opinion, the first rule to recruiting is to represent your clan well. Especially if you're solo-recruiting, no-one else is there to help our image. It's up to YOU when it comes to being polite, using proper grammar, and having a friendly nature. Even if someone insults RSO and walks away, don't forget to reply with "have a pleasant day" or "I hope you change your mind". It never hurts.
- Second only to the first rule should be the most obvious one: DO NOT RECRUIT ALTERNATE ACCOUNTS. They give the illusion of a clan having more members than it really does. In addition, if you recruit someone with no special hats or shirts, they're most likely a troll looking to bring down RSO.
- While you may get sick of the "Group Recruiting Plaza" (which is hands-down the most efficient recruiting place), I would strongly discourage going to random servers when you wish to recruit. It breaks the first rule, because you're misrepresenting RSO when you advertise in Base Wars or Stalker.
- The last tip I can give you is to try not to get stressed about it. When someone comes up to you and says that your clan sucks because "omg lol uniform", that isn't you being the problem, it's them. If you aren't attached to that specific server, go to a different one. If you're feeling too stressed, just quit the game. It isn't a rage-quit if you pity someone else's opinion to such an extent that arguing with them isn't worth your time.
Now that I've gotten the news over with, let me open up a new section of Thirty-Round Magazine: The "Ma'am-Gram". It contains only a gram of information, but that's the best part about it! It's almost a "quote of the week" from either of our "ma'ams" (2iC Moonball or 3iC Teezi). This week's Ma'am-Gram is:
"Oh, I thought you said 'my mouse is making brownies'..." -Moonball
Of course, I followed up to this with something which I dare not repeat in this magazine.
Well, I'll admit-- there ain't much news this week (or at least, not much that I'm allowed to talk about publicly). Thank you for reading Thirty-Round Magazine, operatives. Check back every Monday (or Tuesday, if I'm late) for some fun-threatening/enhancing events which could concern YOU as a proud soldier of RSO.
Thanks for reading!
