| He comes from the rival school, which is no surprise, considering this. But Good Lord, it's so annoying how lightning flashes in the sky and he rambles on about how his "father" Zeus is angry. At his old school, so he told me, he took a test given by the kids to see if he was a demigod. I know someone who, earlier, would do such a thing, but... I don't know how to describe it. These morons used pointless facts like "what's your favorite color" or "what's your favorite subject" and then they scream "YUP, HE'S THE SON OF APPOLLO" or something along the lines of that. The immaturity within is phenomenal. And when he told me half the school believed in it, well, it pretty much proved our point about this school. He waits outside my door when I go to the bus stop to scream in my face "YOU SHOULD BELIEVE IN GREEK MYTHOLOGY." And yesterday, when I told him it was a piece of crap, he got all huffy and tackled me into the road. My God... |

"Sounds like every other religion" You'd be amazed how many atheists do this sort of thing. |

| It's kind of like going to one of the NFL games they sometimes play in London and saying you're a London fan. Sometimes I wonder if he's on w33d. Sadly it's not uncommon to see about 5 or so kids holding a private black market outside, but still. You're not supposed to believe in Greek mythology because it's a myth, like it says in the name- it's a myth. When I confront him with THAT argument, he's just like, "...says non-believers." And when I say that it's a myth, he confronts me about my religion, or he just goes off on this rant about myths being things that some people believe and some don't. I spend some nights, awake in bed, wondering... |

| I don't see anything particularly wrong with this. Greek mythology isn't any more absurd than Christianity |

Greek mythology has been proven in every way to be wrong, from the seasons being from being on an axis to spiders being the product of evolution, and not some chick who couldn't keep her face shut

@link - If my words don't speak for themselves then something's up. An invisible being created the universe in 7 says. He created a magical garden put two humans in it. They were tricked by an evil talking snake with legs into eating a mystical apple that gave them knowledge and were then kicked out of the garden. A couple hundred years later, God decides to flood the earth but spares one man and his family. They survive on a big boat and then repopulate the earth. Later a guy called Abraham is commanded to leave his ccountry. He's visited by 3 angels and is then called to take his nephew out of a doomed city. After he has a son he is told to kill him but it turns out to be a test. His grandson then receives the family blessing in the place of his older brother and is forced to flee. Jacob spends 14 years serving a man so that he can marry his daughter and ends up marrying both of them. His sons sell his favorite son into slavery for being his favorite. Except he can interpret dreams because of God so he's let out of prison to rule Egypt. The Hebrews move to Egypt, except eventually an evil pharaoh comes along who enslaves everybody. A single Hebrew becomes the Egyptian prince and then flees after killing an Egyptian. He becomes a shephard and talks to God via a burning bush. Then after 10 magical plagues, the Hebrews escape Egypt through a split sea and attempt to return home. However, along the way they are punished by God for constructing an idol and are forced to wander the desert for 40 more years. Then they find their home and annihilate all the people who now live there.
And I've only scratched the surface. |

this is of course if you take everything literally in the bible
and i mean, even if you take it literally its much more plausible than greek mythology
i understand why you would think christianity is silly, but its not as silly as greek mythology |

@Electric
Religion is as credible as the universe beginning as a little speck, then just happens to expand.
It's funny how Christianity has been around forever and has stood the test of time; no contradictions are found in what it preaches. That is an amazing achievement.
Not trying to start a flamewar, but how about you try to see it from our point of view? We have different values and moral codes than other people do, and that's fine. Why not be more accepting of that? |

| You realize that almost every single story in the Bible is essentially stolen from polytheistic myths preceding it by centuries? A lot of Greco-Roman mythology is actually IN Christianity and just warped to sound new. |
