[A prequel thread to the upcoming "Essence" free-roam game. This has free-choice gameplay. You make decisions and I use logic and dice to decide outcomes.] ..................................................................................................................
Yᴇᴀʀ: મ૦મ ᴋᴀ
You are a resident of the village of Renford. Valcay, the kingdom Renford is situated in, has recently entered a new war with the Kingdom of Scelland; the folk who reside further up north and across the sea. Renford, being a coastal settlement, expects the worse. The peasants set up wooden palisades facing the beach and establish a local watch, and have since kept their guard up.
Two days ago, a fisherman reported that several Scellandic ships were docked nearby, staying partially hidden near the forest. This obviously means they are preparing to raid, so the village reeve, Rord Croney, sent a runner and a stallion towards Wassex in order to get help from Lord Stromwell and his force of longbowmen and men-at-arms stationed there.
The ocean raiders make ready to attack. Grab what weapons and equipment you can and muster in the village square. The reeve will organize Renford's militia.
You must defend your village until Lord Stromwell arrives. Your family, property and livelihood are at stake. ------------------------- NOTES & RULES:
1. Your character starts out wearing peasant clothes, and unarmed. Check around the village for some equipment before meeting with Rord Croney in the village square.
2. Scelland soldiers are well-armed and tough. You should think of battle strategies with other players ingame.
3. Once Lord Stromwell's archers arrive, the village should be saved. Unless, of course, you fail and it is burned to the ground before they get there.
4. I use dice to decide the outcome of your attacks, and what you can scavenge.
5. Think of unusual names for your character. [Ex: Jahn, Vrimsley, Quelsac, etc.]

[Basically, yes, Tim.]
[Both accepted.]
[Alchemists at the time were mostly trying to figure out ways to create gold out of alloys and potions. You could be a medicine man, though.] |

[Oke. Remember everyone, you can still join even though we're starting.]
-Darkinoth-
You are standing outside the smithy. Your master, Terrier Jacobsley is inside. You are wearing commoner's garb, breeches, cloves, a burlap cap and a leather vest and cotton tunic.
-Hays-
You are standing outside the tavern. Several men walk outside, some armed, and walk to the town square. You are wearing a cloth coat with a hood, and have leather breeches and aurochskin boots. Your backpack should be upstairs in your room. Another man is nearby.
-Ionar-

You grab your backpack. It contains some wrapped-up black rye bread and a few biscuits, along with an empty canteen and a map of the realm.
Looking around the rooms, you don't find a bow or any arrows. You do, however, find an armsman's fighting dagger under one of the beds, in a box.
-Ionar-
There are weapons in the town centre, but only those that are already in use. Several of the peasant militia wait around anxiously while Rord Croney stands around near the town's central oak tree, keeping an eye in the direction of the beach while gripping him sword's hilt. |

You go and fill up your canteen with nearby pond water. Where do you want to look for a bow?
-Ionar-
A villager, named Phelp Snoder, says; "Ey. I think ye'kn grab a pitchfork near Chambers' farm, out down that way." He points you toward the path leading out toward the countryside. "Their lodge's near the end of village grounds. Make haste!" |

Gold's a big rarity, as is silver. Common currency is small copper and bronze coins called "aurochs", or "aurs". You can typically buy a biscuit for one aur. Two-hundred aurs for a typical cow.
You have a coinpurse with 31 aurs in it.
-Ionar-
You near the Chambers' farm. Several armed people run past you. A man is standing outside the farm, clad in pigskin apparel. "Grab y'self a fork from this'ere cart, sar!" he points to the wagon. A grazing mule is near it, with reins. |
