I've been playing the classic The Underground War by stickmasterluke (http://www.roblox.com/The-Underground-War-place?id=189632) recently, and was wondering if anyone would be interested in a revamped version of the game.
Features would probably include: - Soil that changes shape, not transparency - Less useless flag gameplay - FPS lock - More than 1 gun (Possibly - may diminish from the classic feel) -- Guns will be made of welded together parts, not meshes -- Any guns will have custom animations - Friendly-team only names - Ragdoll deaths - Sprinting (via shift key) - Shovel upgrades - Custom tools (i.e., not Tool object, but rather stored and retrieved custom models via scripts) - Gravestones to mark where people have been shot - More dramatic cave-ins -- Bones in soil to mark cave-in deaths :)
I have the ability to do all this - I'm not exactly a beginner when it comes to scripting - and I was just looking to see if there would be any interest in this before I start devoting time and effort towards it.
If not, I'll continue fiddling around with new scripting concepts, like what's currently at my place.
Thanks for taking the time to read!
P.S. I have already sent a PM to stickmasterluke asking for his blessing in doing this, and am currently waiting for the go-ahead from him as well. |

| I'd be interested in it, yea. I think it might work, if you get the go ahead, I think it could turn out pretty well. |

Interesting. It'll be hard, and will take a LOT of work... but it may just be worth it.
Make sure you do PM Stickmasterluke, as you're using his original idea. (Which you've done)
But yeah. It sounds great! |

| The only thing that would really require a lot of effort on my part would probably be setting up a system for an FPS. I think I'll work on that so that even if people aren't interested in this particular game play, I can port the system to something else. Thanks for the response! |

| I dislike the gravestone idea, but the rest seems good. I'd be more than willing to play a new version. |

| You could take advantage of dynamic lighting by having it be pitch black underground, adding flashlights to guns (or just an extra tool), putting flash grenades in the store (both for high-intensity nades that blind opponents, and low-intensity that just give off light to expose enemy positions). Also the snipers would flash when shot, of course. |

| Yeah, I'd play that. But you should ask permission from Stickmasterkluke. |

Well, since a few months ago I can't play games, but I think it'd be great as I love Underground War and a new version would be even better :D
Do a loop the loop. |

| MHebes, im just wondering, do you have the scripting know-how and power to do this project? its the biggest aspect. |

Well, in short, yes. You can look through my models to see some of my work, if you'd like. |

Gravestones are a cool idea, but could be really glitchy if a player dies in a caved in area or a hallway or when they bunny hop.
An idea I thought of for melee weapons would be that they are digging and melee tools. So like a drill or something
I also hope you're going to fix scoping. |

1) I'd probably just have the gravestone be anchored at the player's torso and raycast downwards to position it correctly 2) That's what the original has - the swuvle (sword/shovel). I probably won't do exactly that, but drills are a possibility. 3) Elaborate?
Also, stickmasterluke still hasn't responded to my PM or tweet. |

In the original, scoping in with a sniper rifle usually caused the camera to clip into the ground and not actually zoom in on where you were pointing. You could also use this to shoot through the ground. |

| Oh right, the old school zooming method. Yeah, don't worry, I'll change FOV and lower the mouse sensitivity instead :) |
