| All the armies of Europe, Asia and Africa combined, with all the treasure of the earth (our own excepted) in their military chest; with a Buonaparte for a commander, could not by force, take a drink from the Ohio, or make a track on the Blue Ridge, in a trial of a thousand years. -The Average American |

England?!
I hate when people mistake us for one country. United Kingdom is England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. It offends people from Scotland, NI, or Wales. |

@re
It's not if you specifically mention the English country itself but not necessarily mentioning the rest of the Kingdom. |

The Russians have the most highly trained military (and I say that without any bias).
Please define "best" for us, also. |

| Well, may I ask you this: Why not be? Why wouldn't you support your own country? I personally feel the military might of the USA is powerful enough that it could successfully face any other world power. Look at it this way: we have top-grade scientists to develop technology, and with all the money we spend on military, we can put all that technology into implementation as well. Ex: we have lasers on our battle ships now. |

Well, one reason is Americans are way too easy to influence. Those are not my own words, actually. An average American would trust/accept pretty much anything their media and government throws at them. Look how easy it was for them to send hundreds of thousands and perhaps even millions of soldiers to wars here and there in the 1900s with the excuse of the "Domino Theory" and other bullocks. I'm not saying it's bad to be patriotic (it's actually a pretty honorable thing), but when the government or the media simply brainwashes its citizens to be thinking how it wants them to think...that's when patriotism becomes simply amusing.
Also, for those of you who are arguing...if Americans and Russians both gave up their nuclear power and went army vs army on each other (like hand-to-hand combat), the Russians would win no doubt. I've lived in both countries long enough to know. |
