FOREVER NIGHT
Outreach. The dawn of the first day of May, didn't bring too much. Operations on planets begin closing down, as aliens and rebel forces on planets were finally being extinguished. Outreach was detasked from the troubled region, and went on a small week vacation. Aliens, however, began building up space ships over in their planets. These ships were extremely strong, and humanity began seeing the next attack, not coming from land, but from space. And they were woefully under equipped for a space war. Aliens blockaded planets, cutting off supply lines and taking them with little force in what humanity referred to as a "war of attrition".
Major fighting waged in the Xevar, Beny'lis, and Cornando systems. As more systems started falling, it began to come clear to humanity what they were really dealing with. There was no way they could beat aliens in direct space confrontation any time soon, especially with major strongholds of deployment falling left and right. If they could keep the aliens at bay, with Xevar, Beny'lis, and Cornando as a buffer in between the aliens and the localized major space industries, they would--at best--be required to fight a static war that they would lose. The pressure was on for the military for finding some way to halt the enemy advance, and keep planets from falling to this new tactic devised by the aliens. Soon a clean strategy was devised. There was no way that humanity's armies would be able to beat their alien adversaries in a direct confrontation-- so they changed the rules of engagement.
They called upon their best people, and began outfitting them for space combat and guerrilla warfare. Needless to say, this was Outreach.
Over the next two months, Outreach learned new tactics, learned to fight in low gs, and became even more bad ass, like spartans from Halo. Alien fronts stayed fairly still as they rested their manpower, and the human military was still pondering ideas. They would still defend the planets, but what could they do to disarm the enemy with little detection and the small resources they had left? Then, some genius came up with his idea and filed a report.
What if they captured the dreadnaughts, destroyers, and fighters? Have the enemy space station for their own base? It was as simple as that, and the tides of war began to seem to turn in their favor. It'd take weeks to work on the most basic of armed and ready human spacecraft; capturing the enemies was a different story.
With a small force of infiltrators they could have an easy force of 50-100 space-worthy vehicles to reverse-engineer within a year, space ships to launch and defend with, and ships to begin a counter attack to drive back the aliens with their own medicine. With their 'superior' space force, and their amazing land force, they could begin to push the aliens out of their galaxy, Andromena Galaxy, and the Milky Way.
ARMORY
Machine Guns
The Mantis HMG [The Mantis Shrimp]- The Mantis is an extremely powerful machine gun, that can be used on the run or implanted. It has a charge of 90 bullets on a C-Mag-shaped battery, and releases short bursts of lasers. It has a fairly longer barrel, resembling that of a high-caliber sniper rifle.
Splicer Chaingun [The Razor Gun]- The Splicer Chaingun is a semi-powerful three-barreled chaingun, that has a clip of 120 charged cylinders of energy resembling bullets on a chain. It shoots flat, flechette-like lasers from a long, frisbee-shaped muzzle, famous for cutting targets in half and penetrating most armored targets during testing.
M5 Skycover HMG [The Spray n' Pray]- Resembling the M56 Smart Gun from Aliens, the Skycover HMG fires regular ammunition. Far weaker than any laser machine guns in comparison, this weapon fire about 12000 rounds on full auto without overheating. Ammunition packs for this gun are worn on the back with about 24000 rounds. Skycover HMGs doubled as an anti-aircraft weapon on a continuous feed of ammunition. They had disabled 4 attack helicopters and 1 jet, "covering the sky" with tracers.
Semi-Machine Guns
Thompson Mark 2 [The Tommy Gun]- The Thompson L1 refitted for space usage. Looks exactly the same, same stats, but fitted with regular laser clips.
X-Candice [The Spitter]- The X-Candice is a somewhat new breed of SMGs, in the fact that humanity has reverse engineered alien tech to make this a laser weapon. This makes them more deadly, and can go through multiple walls or bodies. It won't top the TM-2 [Thompson Mark-2] by any means. Looks like a bulkier Sterling SMG. Some of the element of surprise is ruined with this gun as the muzzle charges up with a blue flow before firing.
Rifles
Clover Laser Repeater [The Clover Rifle]- The Clover Rifle is an inspired take on one of the favored rifles in the GeJordan front. It eventually led and broke through important alien reserves, and turned the tide from defensive, into offensive. The Clover Rifle is edited to shoot faster, have a bigger clip, and to shoot lasers.
Battle Rifle [The Long-Light Rifle]- A bullpup semi-automatic rifle which fires highly-concentrated laser beams, it resembles a lengthened version of an L85A2. The banana-shaped energy charge can fire up to 15 lasers.
SS-M2 [Silent Storm-Mark 2]- Another bullpup rifle design similar to the Steyr AUG, it has a 16-inch barrel with a black finish, and is praised for its high versatility concerning the number of modules that can be attached. Effective in all battlefields. Outreach design. Shotguns
Jamestown Laser Scattergun [JLS/Big Green]- A slightly larger and longer conversion of the Surbu Super Shotty into an energy weapon, the JPS fires a burst of laser through an energy charge contained in a shell roughly 8 gauge in size. With a capacity of 4 shells, it is very effective in close quarters.
The Handheld Puntgun [The Marine's Blunderbuss]- Resembling a larger-bore Looper's Blunderbuss from the movies, The Marine's Blunderbuss is the concotion of two veterans figuring out a way to reduce the recoil of firing two four gauge shells at the same time. Reloaded through a large six-shot revolver-like cylinder, the blunderbuss fires two four gauge shells at a time with a huge spread, making this a good room-clearing weapon. Three shot capacity.
Combat Shotgun [The Auto-Shotty]- An outdated but still efficient weapon, the Combat Shotgun is a semi-automatic 12 gauge shotgun that resembles the Combat Shotgun of the same name from Fallout 3. Perfect for the rebel raider or marine bomber. Whatever tickles your fancy.
Pistols
R.E.M [Rapid Enitiative Multi-Shot]- A simple black iron pistol, with about fifteen bullets per clip. Nothing too special, except that the bullet when hit on contact with often penetrate through light armor and cover. Useful for targets behind walls.
The Noisy Cricket [NCT]- A crossover between a shotgun and a pistol, it resembles a black modern flare gun. Used in CQC situation, the Noisy Cricket is one of the best power-to-size weapon you can have in the human arsenal. Though the range is bad, your basically firing a 6 gauge shell into someone's face. Single shot break-action weapon.
Laser-Shooting Revolver [The Laser Gat]- What can I say? A bigger version of a high-powered ballistic revolver has been modified to accept a charged cylinder of energy and fire lasers. Based on a swing-out design to replace the cylinder. I hope that Keeley chokes on it.
Koel PLS [Koel Portable Laser Pistol]- Because of the non-existant recoil of laser weaponry, the Koel PLS is the smallest rechargable energy weapon of its kind. It resembles a black, modernized derringer with a larger body, barrel, and trigger. The barrel has been replaced with a curved optical glass lense for concentrating laser fire. More powerful than the R.E.M, but the rechargable battery on the back of the rear sight dies out after about 60 shots.
Knives
HCK [Heavy Combat Knife]- A fighting knife similar to a Bowie Knife with a larger hilt and longer blade. Still a favourite among veteran marines and war dogs. Blackened for stealth.
Throwing Knife [The Underhand Menace]- A popular throwing knife, often used in stealth missions. It is coated a dark brown, for concealment, and ace aiming. You are actually have to have about four hours of training to use these, for the fact that it's used in the night, and there is a certain weight which is often off balanced to the typical knife.
Energy Knife [The Flying Fillet]- A new type of combat knife using reverse engineered alien tech, the Energy Knife, already dubbed "The Flying Fillet," is a modified HCK where the blade has been removed. A thin piece of conductive material is flatter and smaller than the regular blade, conducting energy and keeping it static when the knife is turned on. It is balanced for throwing, and good for piercing armor.
Attachments/Miscellaneous Weapons
Scope Adjustable 4x, 8x, 16x, 24x, 48x, 100x Magnification.
Iron Sight Lined with tritium to improve nighttime combat.
Refraction Grenades Refraction Grenades are common grenades used in bordering parties [which are rare] in ships. Notable for destroying corridors, and tearing away ship metal, these grenades are useful to bring ships down.
Lazer-5 See-4 Charges prepped for space fighting.
Standarized Balancing Aim [SBA] System that reduces recoil and weapon sway in combat.
Grenade Launcher Lauches Refraction Grenades at an alarming rate.
Equipment
Over the training time, Outreach has learned new and much more advanced space fighting abilities. Reaction Time improves, and you can skillfully dodge and stuff with your training in zero gravity. Though you have a good map plan of the ships and objectives, information will now appear on your helmet visors, in a sort of holographic Heads-Up-Display.
To add onto that, you have a special implant in your armor and helmet that turns light into oxygen through an accelerated synthetic photosynthesis, and automatically turns off when it detects oxygen. Your bones, have been replaced with solid metal, to prevent you being completely crushed out in space. This makes you much more hardier, stronger, and faster. Bones will not break. Along with this, your joints have been replaced with robotic versions. You can kick harder, lift heavier things, and grip better.
Abilities
Outreach members unworked or previously worked on by robotics technology can get implants and bodily improvements to help improve their survivalbility and efficiency in the danger zone.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=siwpn14IE7E
Second-Skin
Your armor, no matter how heavy, has become your life. It is no longer a shield to protect you from harm, it is a second skin--harder and tougher. Good for scouts and the heavily-armored. [Increased Agility, Increased Dodge in Armor]
Automatic Targeting Your eyes have grown used to the sight of aliens and rebels. The Automatic Targeting implant will automatically make your brain mark out the weak points of a target you are focusing on and judge the rough range for an effective hit. Good for snipers and heavy weapons. [Increased Accuracy, Increased Fire Rate (null if it's an MG)]
Heightened Senses
He's fast--you're faster. He's smart--you're smarter. He's slow--you're slower. He's stupid--you're stupider. Good for all classes. [Increased Dodge, CQC Skill, Agility, Hearing, and Spotting.] Mind Blown You can see it now. A woman willing to die to protect her child. A man willing to kill for his wife. A kid, angry and alo--Oh, where were we, now?! This neural implants speeds up your brain processes, so you can better predict chain reactions, enemy movements, better deductive reasoning, and overall better procedural problem solving. Good for technicians, explosive experts, and leaders. [Increased Knowledge, Increased Problem Solving, Increased Hindsight]
Beast Inside
Full the beast! As point and click adventure fans, our Outreach and marines heavies like to spray and pray. But you can't spray without praying first that you don't break your back with the pound upon pound of weight that comes with weapons, ammunition, and armor. With this implant to your muscle structure, you won't have to worry. Good for Heavies, and explosives experts. [Increased Strength, Stamina and Speed.]
Aliens
'Grunts'- The smallest, and the weakest. They are shaped like little gnomes, except for a face they have a filled V with power bars. They make the best grenadiers, and are pretty senseless. The V is purple, and the rest of their body is black. They can use guns, and found most often with guns. Odd... but they are a great sewi---cidal bomber... Projected Number: 4,000,000, thanks to advances in robotics.
'Savages'- The second weakest, they strive to get in close and attack. They are humanoid like, except for their face which is basically a open gapping mouth with their sides [basically pointy stuff sticking out to cover their mouth] are good weapons for biting. They have mutated swords on their arms, and make wonderus swordsmen. They lack in armor however, and are very noisy. Projected Number: 567,000
'The Protected'- These guys hide behind their own shields, made out of energy. But the second that knife plunges through that shield of theirs, they're out for the count. They are sort of like the Alvins, except without the abilities of stretching their arms. They use plasma guns also aligned with the Alvins. Thus we can assume the two are related. Projected Number: Unknown
'Alvins'- They are slender [cough] beings, able to stretch their arms up to three feet. They use plasma guns often, and are very dangerous. They have a face however, and it has red unmoving eyes. Sometimes reports of people just dying from looking into their eyes, but that's just folklore! Either way, they're a meal best left dead. Projected Number: 321,000.
'Elites' [As the credit for most of this is given to the bottom, I say Halo helped here too.]- They are very muscular, and represent a tank if you know what I'm saying. They have orange skin tones, and are found with a variety of weapons, and a variety of skills. From invisibility to plasma cannons on their arms, its a wide variety. Nobody has really researched the elites, so there is no classification for you to learn on. Projected Number: Unknown
[NEW ALIENS]
'Morph'- Morphs are somewhat of an unknown catagory. It appears they can morph into anyone, but it's unclear whether they've been perfected or not. Previous encounters have shown that you can detect Morphs because of slight differences or miscalculations. Morphs form when not morphed into anything is currently unknown. Projected Number: Truly Unknown.
'Bugs'- Bugs are small, critter like animals. Unknown purpose, unknown reason, and they aren't even scouts. Somewhat of a mystery to all of Outreach, and the only person who has actually see this alien/robot is Emily. Projected Number: Unknown
'Workers'- Workers work on space ships, repairing, loading, fixing, and firing weapons. They can be found in their homeworlds, and is considered what a normal alien looks like. They are a simple green wearing clothing to prevent tears, cuts, and stuff like that on their body. Projected Number: 150 Billion, probably even more.
'Pilots'- Pilots do what they do, pilot. They have special hands for working the ships, a lot like human hands. They are trained to defend and in some cases, even scuttle their ship. They are extremely dangerous, but not smart. Capable of working the ship, releasing aliens, and fighting themselves, they are the true puppet masters of the ships. Projected Number: 1,500,000
Goliath-
Weapons: Splicer Chaingun, M5 Skycover HMG, Compact Big Green, Plasma Pistol, Obsidian Machete Equipment: 2 Refraction Grenades, 1 Lazer-5, 3 Plasma Grenades, SBA on weapons. Abilities: Beast Inside, Heightened Senses, Mind Blown
Bates- Weapons: Battle Rifle w/ Ironsights, Combat Shotgun w/ Grenade Launcher, Energy Knife Equipment: 3 Refraction Grenades, 5 Lazer-5, 5 Frag Grenades, 2 HE Grenades Abilities: Heightened Senses, Mind Blown, Second Skin
Ark- Weapons: Thompson Mark II(x4 scope), Underhand Menace, The Laser Gat (x4 scope) Equipment: 2 x4 scope, Grenade Launcher, SBA on weapons. Abilities: Second Skin, Mind Blown, Automatic Targeting
---->E PLOT
"Current situation is, there's a small destroyer blocking an important trading pass. Needless to say, we need to destroy it." Ryan says, sweeping his hands over a map. "Even more needless to say, we'll be boarding it."
A short while later, you hit the top of the destroyer, right next to the bridge.
[yeah essentially just do your first post entering the bridge]

Standing on top of the great backbone of the alien fleet, Bates looked up at the star-speckled abyss looming all around him before continuing up to the outside of the bridge. A combat shotgun in one hand and a charge of Lazer-5 in the other, Bates shook his head as he walked.
"Still can't believe it." |

Twirling around in what could be called part of a zero-gravity ballroom dance, Bates bowed, snapped his fingers, then pressed the detonator in his hand. |
