But...
All singing is, is saying words while elongating your voice to make it sound pretty, by putting pressure on your diaphragm.
So what's the difference, because rapping poetry and singing poetry are pretty similar. You know? |

| In singing you switch notes, in rapping it stays within one note. See the difference? |

No because all rap songs are different, they may have similar tones, but they all are unique in their own way.
Rap isn't my kind of music, it's an acquired taste according to my friends, but you shouldn't bash it to the point to where you're chopping all of a genre into the same stereotype. |

| I'm not huge into rap, but I think it is poetry, and it is music, and it is art. It requires a lot of talent and language skill to write and perform, and it triggers emotional responses (like this) and therefore can be categorized as a form of art. |

| I never said it was not art. Poetry is art, painting is art, playing the violen is art, dancing is art, and rapping is art. All im saying is that its not MUSIC. |

| By this logic, the spoken word genre isn't music either. |

Rap can change key, but nobody really wants to change key. Cause it isn't necessary. Music is just sound, rap = sound sound = music rap = music

Yeah because repeating the same beat OVER AND OVER is SO DIFFICULT And also it's difficult to say one sentence WITHOUT SAYING A SINLGE [BS] WORD
BECAUSE RAP IS SO RESPECTFUL WITH WOMEN AND BLACK PEOPLE AND ABSOLUTELY SAYS NOTHING ABOUT MONEY. |

| Man, you don't know what your talking about. Artists make pictures too, and they can make music. That's a reason why there's a thing called music artists. Everyone uses voice, and good or bad, music is music. Just because you don't like the genre, dosen't mean anything. |

| By that logic percussive solos shouldn't be considered music, nor should ethic genres like African rhythm be considered music. |

"percussive solos shouldn't be considered music" If it's a solo, then it isn't rythm, because you know, it's a solo.
"nor should ethic genres like African rhythm be considered music" Wait what
I was talking about rap saying [N] every 3 words, not about genres that black people made. |

Percussive solos are music because they have rhythm and dynamic Rapping is music because it has rhythm dynamic and usually literal meaning African rhythms is a genre where the only instruments have dynamics and rhythm
What don't you understand? |
