@Not: Ask if you could do the full course in 1 year? And most unis won't mind.
@Android: A2 = second year of A-levels, and AS (Advanced Subsidiary) = first |

Is it related to America?
@AndroidKitKat: Do you live in the UK? |

| Yes, it's basically the North America (Both US and Canada) version of the AS levels. |

Yes, AP classes exist in the United States. They are the equivalent to a college course.
AP computer science (in my school district) is almost entirely Java. It's called "Computer Science" because it supposedly was primarily about hardware back in the day. You will also spend a short time on some other things like binary.
I don't have it this year, as I need to take the regular Java course as a prerequisite. My Java course will begin at around February. |

| Java? Hardware? HAHAHAHAHA, Java's the farthest thing from hardware with their stack-based memory. |

@AndroidKitKat I think you misread my post. The course used to be based around hardware. It is now based around Java.
@Not It's not very "fancy". Our courses are 1 1/2 hours long, and they last for 4 1/2 months. Two months have gone by so far and they don't even know what arrays are. |

| Hmm, it might be better to compare it to my GCSEs then, when I took IT thinking that it might have something to do with anything smart, and spent two years typing in MS Word about how to turn soda cans into flower pots. |

| lord, I read your post correctly, but if it was based on hardware, they SHOULDN'T make a transition to Java, because they should well, teach hardware, that's the use of CompSci. |

@Not I had to take Computer Applications last year. I took Computer Apps 2 this year. I hate it but I figured I may as well take all the computer classes that are offered. At the end of the course I get a Microsoft Office certification. That class actually switches with my Java class midway through the year at around February.
@Android My apologies, for whatever reason I thought you thought I said something along the lines of Java being related to hardware. At any rate, I kind of agree. There is already a course for Java as it is. Anything being taught in AP Computer Science can be taught in Java. AP Computer Science can then be dedicated to mostly hardware and machine code. |
