The problem in Scotland is not shortage, but power consumption.
The problem isn't even power consumption it's fuel burning to create power.
You don't sort out environmental problems by simply not watching as much TV or showering and not bathing, the solution is to replace coal and oil, yes?
You don't prevent genocide by killing everyone at risk.
e.g you don't stop climate change by using less power, the electricity is generated NONETHELESS. |

'e.g you don't stop climate change by using less power, the electricity is generated NONETHELESS.'
what no
the purpose of reducing energy usage is to reduce the demand for energy so that 1. energy is cheaper and 2. less energy needs to be generated
claiming that electricity is generated nonetheless isn't even true because the rate of energy production DOES change even when it seems like a really petty reason like people making a cup of tea after the world cup finals that's pretty much one of the main benefits of hydroelectricity |

But surely if that's going to reduce prices then we're all jumping onto the train of arbitrary logic from energy companies who will try and steal money at every turn.
And rate of production is only defined by predictions.
Would they just let the power go out for a couple of seconds so they can re-adjust their machines? No, they guess when it'll be higher and individual cases aren't going to matter as much as statistics |

you don't need to let the power go out to re-adjust generators you don't need to re-adjust anything power stations are not made up of one huge generator they are made up of multiple generators and to generate more or less energy you just need to activate or deactivate different generators and in the case of hydroelectric power it's even simpler because you can just increase the flow of water to spin the generators faster |

| I agree with you about hydroelectricity, but with coal burning plants, even if the generators are stopped, coal is burning constantly, even if all but 1 is turned off, unless it's doused with water which can cause problems when relighting it. |
