Story: In this version the Imperial Army is most valued and the Kingdom second. After the lost of the Paladins, the Church has lost almost all hold on it's social status. There has been reported airships seen around the Empire bearing the banner of the Church and armed with military weaponry. Everwrath's small raids have progressed farther north, reaching bellow a divine province south of Aircliffe. The church also has wanted banners for the mysterious Archnight for defacing the banners of the Church. He is also wanted for the supposed hunting of Hitirin, thought to be innocent, and the accused murder of the General Highever (I now do things on a dice roll, and they hated you there. xD).

Races:
Humans: Simply just humans, they have the most kingdoms and largest empires
Archknight: ???
Amarzi: Deer-men. They have chili pepper red skin with antlers and deer ears and they all have black hair with Purple, Red, or Pink eyes. They're culture isn't rather decorative, but they are accredited with being a powerful warrior race and the second most important in Crestrise
Elves: Elves hail from south, and have moved here to escape Everwrath, which has captured all territories and kingdoms south and west of Crestrise. They look like you're average human, but they have pointy and long ears.
Dark Elves: Dark Elves hail from a country far east, covered in marshes. They have come to Crestrise in hopes of making a trade empire, though few know this and view them as traders.

Beginning:
Gahran attempts to cover for you. "This isn't the Archknight! This is... a malformed Drer wendigo that we put into armor and trained for pit fighting!" He nods to you in hopes of succeeding, as 2 human soldiers in scale armor with a sword and shield lead by an Amarzi with a rather severe-looking spear approach.

Thinking quickly I lower my poster, turning my head to one side to curiously look towards the soldiers. I needed to add something to the effect, so I let out a deep growl.

Required Quest! - A Day as a Beast
Gahran has attempted to make you look like a beast and he the beast tamer to survive for a while in Port Jurvu and still keep Hitirin in the town. Pull off the illusion and prepare to corner Hitirin on the airship in 6 hours!

(Persuasion Check! Rolled a 9 out of 12!) "Very well, your Drer seems abnormally tame. Carry on," says the Amarzi, "You people, nothing to see here! Get away from the Drer, no need for injuries!" The people back away as Gahran guides you out of the area. On the way you meet a dark elf, she's in a simple citizen's gown, "Do you need me to put the Drer in a pin while you wait? I'm presuming you're leaving on the upcoming Airship. I can also get you a cage for the ride, if you want."

"No ma'am, I won't need a cage. May I put my Drer in a pin for some time though?" As the dark elf nods, he goes "Let me just talk to my beast and reassure him."

He leads you to an ally, "I'm sorry, but what guard would let a Drer walk in the city without an eye kept on it? Just go into the pin, find a clean spot to sleep, and I'll pick you up before the airship comes. What do you need me to get you while you're sleeping?"

I sigh, I did not enjoy the degrading act, nor the fact that I may have to act like that again in the future. I keep my voice low as I ask. "Other then my sword, some lockpicks would be of some assistance." I didn't want to put to much pressure of obtaining items of questionable legality, so I quickly add. "That is, if you can obtain some." I try to make it sound less of a challenge and more of an option.

I again adopt the pose of a Drer, ready to continue on with the plan, even if it was made up on the spot.

Timeskip!

The dark elf comes back with Gahran, and Gahran pays the lady.

"Thank you for keeping care of my Drer." He says in sincere thanks.

"No problem at all. I always like the pit fights. I hear about a huge tournament being held in honor of Lujor's becoming the General in Krelle. Is he attending?"

"No ma'am. We're heading north. Krelle is far too south, and is liable for Everwrath attack."

"Everwrath? Bah! Sure they've been advancing, but they would've have the guts to attack Krelle! Of course, these new Church ships pose a question."

"I'm sure they're just there to show the Church's new feel of military power and Lujor's election. Nothing serious in the end."

He takes you out and leads you to an alley. "We have 15 minutes to get the airship. I got you those lock picks you wanted. Took me a while as I had to find the places the black market prefers to sell in."

I take the picks and as I'm putting them away I consider some of the faster routes to the airship.

"Thanks for getting the picks, sneaking around a airship would be a bit more difficult without them." I understood why it took the time it did, but we still could miss the airship if we were to...delay. "Better be ready, can't miss this opportunity."

It doesn't take long to reach the docks, you still have 10 minutes. Everyone looks in shock at an armored Drer, as they are not developed enough for swords and shields, and it's dangerous to put armor on them.

"Don't worry, it's most likely for decoration. I don't even know how that guy managed to do that!"

Gahran leads you to a secluded corner of the ship's bottom-most deck available to passengers, where no one could see you. He heads up to the the top decks, and then comes back.

"Hitirin is on the ship. We've also began to move. We're nearly to the altitude line, then we'll begin to move forwards. You can start sneaking around, but I wouldn't head to the top deck until civilization can't see us. There are 2 things you can do right now. Sneak into the captain's quarters, or the engine room. The captain recently received documents from the Church, which could help, and he's also at the top deck, giving you a window of opportunity. Else where, the engine room has some valuable weapons and supplies we could steal for the job, and it also gives us a place to do the job."

New Goal! - You shouldn't be there - Pick one or the other, but not both, I'm evil that way. :P
Sneak into the captain's quarters and receive the Church Documents
Sneak into the engine room and provide a spot for the attempt and some weapons.

Both are very lucrative targets, one being a chance to find out more about the Church, another being weapons, supplies, and a hiding spot. Couldn't risk loosing the target, no matter how much I wanted to clear my own name.

I give Gahran a quick nod. "I'll check out the engine room, meet me back here when the ship is out of sight, we can make our move then."

Gahran nods in agreement, and runs to the top deck to keep tabs on Hiritin. You break 3 lockpicks annd winds up cutting your ring finger, but the lock eventually opens. Insides is mainly lit up by holes that make way for the larger gears on the bottom of the ship. Inside an open locker you find several suits of scale armor, 3 swords, and a spear similar to the one the Amarzi had. The scale isn't your fit, but it might work with Gahran, and the sword can help him, too. However, the spear could really help you. The blade is one sided, and it's sharp, serrated, and jagged, perfect for penetrating plate armor.

Take the scale armors, swords, and the spear?

While I do make sure to be careful to not get a bit of blood on everything I touch, I don't think a engineer is going to wonder what happened, a bloodied suit of armor could say something else. Taking a suit of armor and a sword for Gahran would be for the best, would make him look like a guard. I grab the spear and give it a practice thrust in the air, not my preferred kind of weapon, but it would do. I grab a set of armor and a sword, and head back to meet Gahran.

Gahran approaches you back at where he left you, a look of severe worry in his eyes.

"The ship stopped, and I just noticed there's no guards," He gets back to his senses, "I managed to convince Hitirin to meet us at here. Considering the armor you're carrying, I'm presuming the engine room is available. I should be able to get this on before he comes, and then we can ambush and silence him and drag into the engine room."

Goal Complete! Rewards! A suit of scale armor, a sword, a spear.

New Goal! - The Revelation - Required
Gahran quickly gets on the armor and coaxs you into a state of Drer. Apparently, Hitirin wanted to see the famous Drer that came into town. Drer's normally don't have tails, which is why it interested him. Here Hitirin comes!

I would have scowled at Gahran for having to act like a Drer once again, but I have bigger things to worry about, such as acting like a beast. Shouldn't be too hard, fooled a guard already. Still, I can't keep the fact that there are no guards out of my mind, will have to worry about that later. I drop into a crouch, trying to look beastly.

Gahran tackles Hitirin, and puts his mouth over him. He drags him to the engine room, and closes the door behind you. Hitirin now knows your the Archknight, but nothing he can do about it. Hitirin runs to the other side of the ship, hoping for a miracle.

On the ship's top deck
The captains takes a breath, "It's a Crestrisen's duty to deliver justice, no matter the cost..."
There's a giant ship, made out of wood from the lands of the Dark Elven and the Church's banner hanging on the sides. An elf is reading the decrees of the Church and the General Lujor, with 5 Amarzi guards on each side of him. The gap between the 2 ships is too far for anything to jump to the other ship, but close enough for an accurate hit. However, this ship has no cannons, that one does.

"...and so, as a Crestrisen's duty, this ship is to be eradicated in efforts of defeating the Archknight, even at the cost of other lives!"

And the cannons fire

In the engine room
Gahran approached Hitirin ahead of you.

"It's time to eliminate this bug!" Gahran starts to move towards Hitirin until... BAM! A cannon ball hits Gahran from the sides and... well... I think you can figure it out. (I did a survival roll on Gahran... He got a 1. xD)

Hitirin sat there, barely comprehending, and then returns to his senses.

"Hey, Drer! I think we're under attack! We should work together, and then kill me?" He's desperate, but right. Whatever is attacking, you might need someone else to help.

[That critical failure roll, feels bad. D:]

It took around two seconds for my senses to come back, it half that to decide how I should continue. I grab the spear and offer it to Hitirin.

"Can you use this?" I demanded, my voice was void of emotion. As much as I wanted to intact terrible terrible vengeance for Gahran, there are people on this ship. People who will die if they continue firing. One death is already to many.

"Yes, I can," Hitirin grabs the spear, "I really don't know how we're going to stop this, though. The ship isn't moving, and this cannon ball," Hitirin examines the cannonball used demolish Gahran, "It's got a book symbol on it. I dare say we're being attacked by the Church. Must be part of their eradication law going on, all criminals spotted going on a airship will have that person and the airship destroyed, to prevent escape. Innocents will be killed, thought the guards will be evacuated, but Lujor says it's a Crestrisen's duty, and people are falling head over heels for it. I think I know a way to save most of the survivors."

Monsters, I was never a religious person, never did like the fact the Church had so much power. I spoke quickly. "Then speak, if it works, I'll stop hunting you." I instinctively reach and draw my blade, even if I couldn't stop the cannons, I can't risk Hitirn driving a spear into my back.

"There's a metallic box on the third deck, above the bottom one, which is above us. It's meant for the containing of prisoners, but it is still large enough to fit two thirds of the ship, and sturdy enough to withstand the fall. We can stuff a lot of people in there," Hitirin took a breath, "Now, considering the stories I heard about you, you might risk your life to help the last third, or you might stuff yourself and hopefully me in there with the other two thirds and survive without an issue."

Goal Complete! Rewards: 1 Companion: Hitirin, Berserker Class.

New Goal - The Third - Choose one choice or the other
There's a way to save the people who have survived the past blasts from the enemy. However, a whole third would have to be left to try their best to survive without it. You can choose to be part of the third and help them try to live, or you could insure survival and bring you and Hitirin in the box, or you could go into the box with the two thirds, but leave your new companion out of it. It's something where you would have to consider what would you do if you were in this situation.

Its difficult, choosing to decide who dies and who lives, and Hitirin was right about me, I would, and I will, risk my life to save them. They don't deserve do die because of me. "I know a bit about falling, might be able to save those who get left out." I speak, I didn't fear death, but the prospect of actually being able to die was, unnerving, gives me a reason to try that much harder. "Make sure the young and old get in it first, alright?"

"The old are going to die of a heart attack before we hit, box or not, but all right, the young, the old, those with buns in the oven, and then the others" Hitirin goes up the stairs to start saving lives, and eventually gets the box filled up. You got 34 men and 43 women still left on board. Hitirin stays behind with you. What now?

(My last post for the night. See you tomorrow.)

Look around those who are among us, see if any of them look like a crew member. I am not a leader, so I don't bother trying a encouraging speech, or trying to reassure everyone here that they will see another day. I wasn't imposing, or even the kind to look like a leader. So I make a simple command. "Who here has any idea how to fly one of these things?"

The captain looks at you, "It's your fault we're in this mess, Archknight! Had you not come, we wouldn't have received an eradication order!"

The enemy ship's round start to make the floorboards crack. They notice this and float up, to where their guns are parallel to balloon. A sure fire way of finishing you, for sure. The cannons fire the next round, popping the balloon, and the floor gives away, leaving you falling with a lot of people and a lot of shrapnel.

HEROIC MOMENT!!!
Time seems to stop for you, and the world turns grey, "We have noticed your choice to save those before you. In return, we shall bestow upon you one spell."

There is a sharp whistling sound, and then everything returns to normal, except now there is a grey crystal in your hand. A wind spell. Maybe, if you use it close enough to ground, you could cushion the fall of everyone and save the vast majority of everyone. Be warn though, this wind spell is a one time use, and they are good in military importance, being able to push enemies into dire situations. The choice is your, use it to save others, or risk your life and use it later?

Better to save these people, the captain is right about it being my fault, if I let them die, I would be the reason behind it. I can barely shout out. "Brace yourselves!" If this cushions our fall, the only problem would be the shrapnel.

(Death roll! D:) 1 woman and 2 men die from being either too early or too late for the cushioning. The wind blows most shrapnel away, but 6 women and 6 men still die from it, one being the captain. You and Hitirin survive (That roll was... both good and bad. xD).

Quest complete! Rewards! 1 companion, 1 spear, several lock picks, start of the story! :D

The metallic box opens. Everyone was strapped in safety there. But still, a lot of people died from the fall, and even more so from the attack. A man leaves the box. This man is dressed in noble clothing, red with a gold trimming, and a symbol of the Kingdom's golden bird on the left side of the front, and a symbol of the Empire's white mountain on the right front. This man is of obvious importance.

"That's Lawkeeper Travick," says Hitirin, "He runs the Aircliffe province. I can't believe I didn't notice he was there."

Travick notices you and approaches you. "What was that!?! I have never, NEVER, encountered that. It was... impressive. I never thought a man rumored to be a con and hero would do that. You are obviously the Archknight, I was there when they gave the eradication order, and I've listened intently to the stories," says the Lawkeeper, "I don't think we should return to Port Jurvu. They'd be expecting us. Elsewise, we're close to Heartsrest, the capital city of Aircliffe. There are guards there that, as long as I say you're okay, won't even lay a finger on you."

Hitirin nudges you, "I don't think we should go Heartsrest. Just because he says what he says, does it mean he will give them word of our safety in their walls? Down the mountain, a futher distance away, is the border of Aircliffe and Jestfalls. Jestfalls is home to the assassin's guild in Magson, and they'd surely provide you and me safety."

New quest! Figuring out what to do - Required - One choice or the other
You have to go somewhere. The remaining survivors will got to Heartsrest, but you don't have to. Decide between Heartsrest, Magson, or return to Port Jurvu. Hitirin will follow you, why is beyond you.

[The captain deserved it, and 15 deaths out of 77, I don't know how I should feel about this.]

While I was aware of what had been said, I don't respond instantly, but drop into a crouch as I try not to vomit. Considering that it wasn't a large amount of magic, I'll most likely be fine.

"We're going to Heartsrest." I say as I stand, making sure my sword is still in its sheath. The Lawkeeper could potentially be leading us into a trap, and I didn't want to be caught weaponless. I look around the wreckage, might be able to find some clothing or something I can wear above my armor. Would be less conspicuous that way.
