this post is intended to be a very quick overview of firearms in america in general
1. WHAT YOU CAN OWN AND WHERE
to purchase a firearm in the united states of america (legally), you must buy from a FLL (Federal Firearm Liscence) holder and they will run a background check. if you are a felon, you CANNOT BUY A GUN IN THE U.S. BY LEGAL MEANS - there is no 'loophole'.
you must be 18 to own a rifle or shotgun, and 21 to own a handgun or any weapon that falls under the NFA of 1934 as a Title II weapon (see SBR, SBS, ect.)
fully automatic firearms are illegal; to own one, you must pay the $200 fee and go through a very lengthly background check. the sale and manufacture of automatic weapons for U.S. civilian sales has been illegal since 1986, so no machineguns made after 1986 are legal.
all rifles must have a barrel length of 10.5 inches or be classified as a Short Barrel Rifle (SBR). that also falls under the NFA of 1932 and youll have to do the same BG check and pay the $200 fee.
a rifle is defined as any firearm with a shoulder stock (shotguns exempt). attaching a stock to a handgun makes it a SBR (unless its very old and has certain privileges due to historical value).
shotguns must have a certain barrel length or be classified as a SBS (short-barreled shotgun). stock does not matter typically.
sound supressors are Title II items are also fall under the NFA of 1934 and require a background check and the $200 fee.
armor-piercing, explosive, and incendiary ammunition is simply illegal everywhere.
semi-automatic rifles with detachable box magazines or 10+ rounds and a pistol grip (google it) are illegal in the peoples republic of new york, commiefornia, the district of kolumbiastan, new jerseyistan, and other soviet sattelite states states.
a C&R weapon stands for curio and relic, these are historical weapons that are exempt from certain regulations due to their historical value.
2. BASIC TERMINOLOGY
a revolver is not a pistol. a pistol is not a revolver. pistols are specifically semi-automatic weapons while revolvers use a spinning carousel. just use handgun, it refers to both.
"magazine" and "clip" are NOT INTERCHANGEABLE EVER IN ANY CONTEXT. to put it simply, a clip is a tool that assists in loading an internal box magazine, and a magazine is a part of a firearm (typically detachable) that holds ammunition to be fed into the action.
when referring to ammunition, the denotation "7.62x51mm" is referring to a round that has a bullet or 7.62 millimeters in diameter (0.30 in.) and with a casing 51 millimeters long. note: these denotations arent always precise - 9x18mm Makarov is actually 9.2mm in caliber, and .38 Special is actually .357 caliber.
supressor is much more proper than 'silencer', though they are technically interchangeable terms. just use supressor for good measure.
projectile = "bullet" casing = "shell" complete, unfired unit of ammunition: "round" do not call a round a bullet, you'll just look stupid.
3. BASIC RULES OF GUN SAFETY
1. Always Treat A Firearm As If It Is Loaded (ALWAYS!) 2. Always Keep The Firearm Pointed In A Safe Direction (i.e. upwards or toward a wall, if unloaded) 3. Always Keep Your Finger Off The Trigger Until Ready To Shoot 4. Always Keep Your Firearm Unloaded Until It Is Ready For Use 5. Always Be Sure Of Your Target and What Is Beyond It (i.e. no shooting over the hill)
4. THE SECOND AMENDMENT
A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
this means americans have the right to own weapons in order to prevent tyranny, i.e. host another revolution, should the federal government ever become corrupt, tyrannical, or hostile to american citizens (which they currently ARE NOT - im a lot of things, but not paranoid)

USAS12 is post-'86 and full auto, and is classified as a Title III destructive device and so importing/selling them would be a federal offense
also explosive ammunition is illegal. |

This is filled with misinfo. Machine guns aren't illegal on the federal level. You don't HAVE to buy from a FFL. You can purchase a pistol via private sale while under 21

all machineguns are technically illegal or under a "grandfathered" status which includes restricted sales and almost impossibly private sales.
you dont HAVE to buy from a FFL but you most likely will if you want a decent gun, js
you must be 21 to buy handgun ammo, nullifying the usefulness of owning one while under 18, with the exception of "rifle caliber" handguns or .22 handguns. |

If you have a large interest in guns you should search up the laws in other countries as well |

you miss the point
we HAVE guns in order to PREVENT the GOVERNMENT from taking our RIGHT to OWN them.
if someone was truly tyrannical they wouldn't brake for the second amendment _____________________________________
once again, miss the point entirely the reason we have guns is to stop them from being taken |
