It sounds alright to me. In fact, I believe that they had improved a lot by that time. =/
I will admit that Hot Space wasn't the best ever, but everything from The Works to Innuendo is some of the best music that I've heard ever @_@
I mean, 70's Queen is great and all, especially there first few albums (Queen to A Day at the Races), but you have to admit that Jazz wasn't all that great. Nor was News of the World. Flash Gordon was full of "meh". |

I disilke most of what Queen did in the 80's because they cheesed out, like many 70's bands and artists did. The first four Queen albums were amazing and showed that Queen could play any style of music, but after Night at the Opera they went downhill. Songs became less interesting, and eventually the band would use keyboards and write generic pop songs ("Radio Gaga" being a prime example) Sure, Queen did have some good songs during that era ("I Want It All" and "Hammer to Fall" being my favorites), but most of it was either cheesy or forgettable.
Innuendo was good, but that album came out in the 90's and was more of a return to Queen's original style. |

A Day at the Races isn't all that bad. After a few listens, it actually begins to grow on you. I still can't stand "You Take My Breath Away", but from the beginning of Side 2 to the end, I was quite pleased.
And I will admit that their 80's stuff isn't quite as memorable as the 70's, but maybe I like it more because of the nostaslgia factor...
I mean, the guys have matured music-wise, their lyrics aren't as silly and some of the synth sounds make me feel giddy somehow <_<;
OoC(sorta >_>) - And whilst "I Want it All" and "Hammer to Fall" are great songs, I much prefer "Prince sof the Universe" and "Tear it Up". |

| I never said A Day at the Races was bad, but it was a step downward from Night at the Opera, and every album would gradually fall downward from there until I got to the point where I just couldn't really listen to 80's Queen. |

Kinda descpicable. >.> " They also did "We Will Rock You" and "Bohemian Rhapsody", but all three are probably their worst ever, tbqh. Bo Rhap not as much, but it's not as great as everyone says it is. "I never said A Day at the Races was bad, but it was a step downward from Night at the Opera, and every album would gradually fall downward from there until I got to the point where I just couldn't really listen to 80's Queen."
Well, no, you didn't say it, but you're implying that it's worse than A Night at the Opera. Sure it's all about opinion and all, I undertsand, but I think that ADatR is a lot bette rthan ANatO. Maybe I'm judging by the fact that ANatO had some really lame/cheesy lyrics(like in "Sweet Lady", "You call me sweet like I'm some kind of cheese". My God...), or the fact that I don't like "You're My Best Friend".
But how does it fall downward? Why can't you listen to it? Elaborate please p_o

| A Day At the Races just isn't as memorable as A Night at the Opera was. ADatR was a good record, but ANatO was just amazing in my opinion. It was literally perfect, and showed Queen's range in musical style. I believe that Queen never made another album that was as good as ANatO was, and that every album onward didn't live up to it's standard. But that's just me. And again, Queen's 80's work was too poppy and filled with keyboards for my tastes. I think the same with the 80's work of many other bands, like Styx, Van Halen, Rush, and The Cars. |

I see...
And what do you think of Sheer Heart Attack?
More importantly, "In the Lap of the Gods". p_o |

| It's a great record. I love "Stone Cold Crazy"; it's so heavy for it's time, and "In the Lap of the Gods" is a good song too. |

Good.
And what about The Game? (final question, btw. <_<; I don't mean to seem pressing). |

"Meh, I'm not a big fan of that one."
Very agreed, even though it has the same general sound as the 80's stuff. Maybe it was "Don't Try Suicide" that killed it for me >_> |

| I like both but 70s is better, freddies voice cracked ans sounded rough in the 80s and his voice was smooth in the 70s. |
