(To start out, I'm procrastinating on a paper due in half an hour.)
Times have changed. They certainly have. Hell, I didn't start using the internet until I was 12. But here we are now in 2013 where Roblox is populated with an abundance of users who are still under 13 years old. Even my younger brother identifies with this demographic.
Now this is not a bad or terrible thing. In some ways it can promote positive consequences. I just want you all to think about what this implies.
Younger children are more vulnerable, more naive, still pure. Should we be held accountable for our own actions while in front of such a young presence?
Or should it be up to their parents to strictly monitor and review their interactions online?
Or maybe it should even be up to the children themselves?
Growing up while browsing Roblox and participating in the community has given me a more unique experience compared to a majority of older users. It's true I've been around for a good five years or so, but I had already lost most of the innocence and impressionability of a young child by the time I joined. I had a broader and newer perspective compared to others that allows me to more accurately reflect on past experiences without some of the bias that comes from childhood nostalgia (albeit it is certainly still present).
I hope that this post brings up a few ideas for you guys to ponder and perhaps you still have insight you'd like to contribute. |

| What if a kid gets bullied at school? Is it the parents fault? The bully's parents? The teachers? |

| Or do we assume blame on the child because we are too afraid to reflect on ourselves? |

| What does the internet provide besides a certain level of anonymity that allows you to change your perspective of social norms? |

being a bully is wrong but the person being bullied must put a stop to it
for example in the fourth grade i had a bully, he would push me and shove me from the behind then one day he brought some lemon juice to school, when he went playing outside i took his juice and took it to the toilet (the juice was yellow k). Okay since you know what happened next, the guy drank it and he later found out what i did to the juice was suspended for a week was worth it never got bullied again
or you can just go tell some adult about it |

| And, i do agree that children are fragile, and that the older users(Aged 15 and above) must not be mean to a young one. Because i am a child too, i'm 9. |

| I feel as if the parents should at least watch their child somewhat. After all, you cannot reply on JUST a game itself to watch your children. Maybe the parents could at least sit down and try to help out the child, or they could join them in-game and help out on their quests. In the end, I feel as if the parents should take some responsibility, along with Roblox. Roblox can do a lot of stuff, such as filter out the trolls, keep out +18 games, and keep the community safe, but they cannot do all of this instantly. They need help, not just from the older community on reporting anything which is bad, but from the parents, who need to make sure a kid doesn't stumble into these kinds of things. Hopefully a few of you agree with me. |
