Two cars are travelling along a racing track. The car in front has a mass of 1400 kg and moving at 20ms-1 while the car behind has a mass of 100kg and is moving at 30ms-1 . They collide and e car in front moves off with a speed of 25 ms-1

a) determine the speed of the rear car after the collision
b) show clearly whether this collision was elastic or inelastic

Do this for me and explain it and il give you 2k

ok go go go

Also this is for physics clan of roblox wink wink

e = mc2

speed = time x distance (forgot)

mass = energy divided by speed

so

hmm

b) show clearly whether this collision was elastic or inelastic

If you show if it is elastic, you can see the damage on how it is pulled in. So type or write b and donate me

I'll answer both for 3k

A) 23 ms-1 to the right

30000(1000x30) + 28000 (1400x20) = 1000 v + 35000 (1400 x 25)
58000 - 35000 = 1000 v
1000 v = 23000

B) Inelastic because the kinetic energy before was 730000 J and after it was 702000J, which means the loss is 28000 J

3k please

This is about momentum, so
momentum (kg m/s) = mass (kg) × velocity (m/s)
Therefore before the collision:
Momentum of front car = 28000
Momentum of rear car = 3000
Total momentum: 31000

Then you work out the momentum of the front car from the new speed of 25ms.
Therefore after the collision:
momentum (kg m/s) = mass (kg) × velocity (m/s)
Front: 35000

Conversation of momentum states that momentum is not lost during the collision, so:

Rear:
Since total momentum was 31000, the front is 35000 is 4000 too large, so the rear car momentum must be MINUS 4000.
Therefore the speed is -4000/100 = -40 m/s

a) -40m/s
b) inelastic because velocity was not conserved

I am really not sure about this though so idk
