✧--P R O L O G U E--✧ Kyle walked around the new city. He was astonished at the beauty of it, as were many other villagers too. He was looking for a hotel he had searched up at home on his computer. He'd booked a luxury room there. It was said to be the "Best hotel ever" by critics. He was quite excited. The hotel was called The Deadly Raven. Gee, if only he'd have listened to that hotel name and decided to stay elsewhere. Now he was sure it was down to fate that he had gone there. If only he hadn't.
He walked in. The place looked stunning. He walked to the counter and showed him the ticket he'd booked, and was shown to his room. The room looked pretty, as well, but of course it was all a simple trick.
He first looked around. His bed was king-sized, beside was a glass table. It looked quite modern. On the table was a clock. He didn't look at it much, as he was too excited to see everything else. At the other side of the room was a large bookshelf, crammed with many books, from thick to thin. Beside the bookshelf was a walk-in wardrobe. At the final side of the room was a large window where he could see the many villagers walking past. Despite the number of villagers outside, it was quiet inside. He wondered how that happened. This is when things began to get weird.
He looked at the clock, out of curiosity, to see the time. He saw the arms of the clock going backwards. He shrugged it off as a broken clock. Next, a bell rang through the halls of the hotel. He began to feel drowsy and slipped off to sleep on the King-Bed.
Michael was awoken by many loud wails outside. He immediately sat up, assuming it was just a bad dream. He looked outside. Nobody was around. "Strange," he thought, "must just be because it's early." but even then, some people would still be out? Anyway, he then decided to read a book because he assumed it was very early. He'd wait until he was called for breakfast. He had no idea of the time as the clock was still very odd.
A few hours later, after Michael had read a few books, he'd assumed it was about the time everyone else was getting up. He looked outside, and nobody was around. He began to feel a little strange. He decided to get dressed and to go downstairs. What a mistake he'd made.
He walked down to see nobody was about here either. He made himself breakfast and once done, decided to go outside to see where everyone is. Maybe they were at an event or two? He walked around the town. Still deadly quiet. He was now fully creeped out. It was like one of those films he'd seen, what was it called? Oh yeah, it was called 'The Silent Whisper'. He then decided to call out for help. No answer came. He then searched around for a long time.
After going up and down narrow, abandoned streets, he decided, as he was a good climber, to get a higher view on top of a roof of a house. He did so and looked out. Nobody was to be seen... except....
He looked ahead. He decided to search one last time out in the streets. He was down at one street called "Tacere Lane" when he saw something coming out of the shadows behind a house. He braced himself. ✧--E N D O F C H A P T E R--✧ How did you like it? Constructive Criticism is welcome, trolls are not. Before you ask, no, this will not be about a Zombie Apocalypse, more will be revealed as the story progresses. |

Waah. I shouldn't make chapters in a rush.
Kyle is meant to be Michael. Why did Kyle just pop into my head? Don't ask me. |

✧--L A S T T I M E...--✧ Michael, an ordinary boy, comes to live in a new town. He finds a hotel to stay in until he can get a house; the Deadly Raven. Things begin to get weird when his clock in the room goes funny and he wakes up to find the town; perhaps the planet is deserted! What will he do when he sees a mysterious shadow step out of the mist? Let's find out!
✧--C H A P T E R 1: A E R I U S--✧ He looked ahead. He decided to search one last time out in the streets. He was down at one street called "Tacere Lane" when he saw something coming out of the shadows behind a house. He braced himself.
The 'thing' stepped out. Michael began to tremble as the fog around 'it' faded away. It turned out to be a man, a survivor! Michael kept his distance with the man, as he looked a bit... you know... off. The man began to make loud noises, and many other 'survivors' ran over. They looked hungry. Hungry... they began to lick their lips as they stared at Michael, evil in their eyes. It was only when they began to close in to Michael that he realized they wanted to eat HIM... they were C.annib.al.s! Michael pushed one of the starving, mental men down and made a run for it. He ran, ran until he could run no more; to the point if he ran one step more, he would fall. He seemed to be away from them. He sat down on a step. He was quite hungry. He went inside a shop nearest to him and then he remembered; he could take anything from any shop. It seemed the only people here on this world were him and the mental folk. Michael took a moment to think about them. They were once normal, but probably due to the disappearance of everyone else have turned insane.
A while later, after looking around shops for the nicest food, he'd got himself one of those microwaveable roast-dinner thingies. He put it in a microwave and when it was done, ate it.
After a few days of scavenging off shops, he'd learnt somewhat to live with being by yourself. One day, he was taking a walk down "Gelida Road" when he saw another boy sit by a step. He didn't look mental, insane, hungry for others. He looked sad, alone, depressed, just like Michael. Michael walked over, still a bit wary but not as much as the man he'd encountered a week or two ago. The boy looked up; he was about the same age as Michael, 11 or 12. The boy looked delighted to see another person. The boy jumped up. "You're here too?" he asked, delight in his eyes. "I can't believe I've met someone..." Michael said, the same look in his eyes. The boy immediately said, "I'm Aerius. What's your name?" to which Michael said, "My name is Michael. So, you're here by yourself?" and Aerius had said, "Yeah. Follow me."
Aerius lead Michael to a lane he'd never seen before. Michael took in the sight of lovely homes, yet abandoned, and Aerius led Michael to a large home, about the size of two houses put together. "This WAS my home, before the... thing happened." he said, leading him inside. The house was very rich and fancy. Despite nobody being here, it was nice. "Michael, want to stay here for a while? That way, if anything comes for us, we'll be ready together, a team, a duo!" he said, delighted. "Yeah... okay." Michael said.
Aerius showed Michael all the rooms and gave Michael a large room, with a double bed, a wardrobe and a bookcase in it. Michael remembered the old hotel room; nearly the same as this one; but he didn't care. Aerius was his friend, his partner, his 'teammate,' ...right? |
