I see you walking by with that attitude like nothing could ever stop you, I pause and take a deep, long breath but I don't shed a tear (Because they were right, weren't they?)
When you were taking that last sip of bleer that you stole from that 7/11 do you ever stop and think? but I don't shed a tear (Because they were right, weren't they?)
When you wake up in a parking lot all cold, alone, and aching Do you think back to the night before but I don't shed a tear (Because they were right, weren't they?)
When they've finally left and you're sitting there alone phones ringing in the distance, but all you can hear is the ringing in your head but I don't shed a tear (Because they were right, weren't they?)
And when you swallow that last pill the last face you'll see will be your own and everything they said no longer matters... but I don't shed a tear (Because they were right, weren't they?)

Maybe it's just because I'm tired and just did homework but I didn't really understand it, sorry.
I always thought it would be interesting for someone to write a poem or short story of someone's former, more-innocent self calling themselves as they are now a monster. Like, the author is looking at how they are now from the perspective of how they used to be: a better person in their eyes. |
