Google is your friend.
No one on OT can tell you what they really were.
Hint: Use to center around being skilled in Masonry. |

everybody has their own interpretation, so there really is no universal definition for masonry itsefl
as for masons, they are people who believe that the virtues taught by masonry can make them better people, in terms of morals and generosity
the reason it is so "secretive" is because when they were first coming up in europe, they were supressed, and had to be masons in secret
they still cling on to that whole feeling of secrecy, because masonry is a stubborn belief that refuses to change, even when they wont be persecuted |

There's not a lot to say about them because they've always been EXTREMELY secretive, but they're a medieval fraternity group that had a lot of political influence throughout Europe. I doubt they amount to anything in modern times though.

when i mean "when they first came up in europe", that is when they started the whole tradition of being called masons, with lodges and their symbolic rituals
nobody really knows the exact origins of the freemasons, other than the rumor that the first freemasons were the stone-masons who built solomon's temple (Which is why the temple is really important in masonry) |

" Either not good answers or the answer is too long."
You must not be too interested, then.
This has the be the first case where someone gives up an internet search and searches for answers from a Roblox forum.
Fascinating. |

think again
right now, there are 17 serving U.S. senators, 4 U.S. governors, a total of 9 heads-of-states and various other politicians and businessesmen, as well as media personalities that are masons |

@Scottish - Can you provide me with some sources? Don't misinterpret my tone; I am skeptical, but I'm also interested if that's true.

i dont know exact names, considering politicians dont like to advertise themselves as masons (masonry isnt something you use for politic purpose)
that is an approximate estimate, considering some were in the DeMolay (masonic youth group), like bill clinton and walt disney

Don't get cheeky just at me for pointing it out.
I mean if you seriously give up looking for a reliable source because the answers were "too complex" and instead try on a kids forum, well, what can I say?
I don't know where you got the impression I have wisdom to share, but thanks. I'll try to do ya proud.
Typing in small words is a crappy way to hide anger. |

| some people, like chuck grassley (R-Iowa) for example, are dedicated freemasons, but fear backlash from non-masons and masons for advertising his masonry for votes |

@Scottish - Most of that is all propaganda or shady rumors. For instance, some people think John F. Kennedy was part of the Illuminati and that he was assassinated by an enemy of the Illuminati. I say that's bull crap. I try to toss out most of these conspiracy theories because frankly, I'm cynical enough without having to worry about whether or not the government is being controlled by hidden tyrants. So I guess I'm cynical towards cynicism. xD

"I don't feel like reading a book to figure out what freemasons do. Also some of the people on here, believe it or not, are actually smart! Wow!
By the way you've been the most helpful.
You touched me like a soccer coach."
Extended web pages are not books, friend. Now you're just making it seem as if you're either lazy, or incompetent. Pick your poison.
Depends on your definition of "smart", I guess.
Most helpful? You're too kind. |
