Teamspeak 3 Petition
The purpose of posting this thread on C&G is not to start a flamewar, it's not to start an argument. The purpose of posting this thread here it to post a professional opinion and set of solutions for a problem we see developing in The Grand Imperium. Any non TGI responses should be ignored.
The purpose of this petition is to call for the removal, or reformation of the Teamspeak server used by members of the Grand Imperium. While I, the author, recognize that Teamspeak 3 can serve as a vital tool of communication, there are quite a few issues that need to be worked out if using it is to be considered at all viable. These issues stemming from the usage of Teamspeak 3 have gone on long enough, and the officers simply place the blame on one another but do nothing to attempt to handle the issues themselves. Attempting to impose rules upon the server simply creates even more tension and yet again, issues arise.
The Teamspeak 3 client has become a major problem regarding officers and soldiers alike. By my view, however, the fault lay mainly with the officers, due to the lack of proper and professional conduct on Teamspeak. Due to this absolutely unacceptable behaviour and breach of professionalism on the officer’s behalf, those not of significant rank also see fit to lash out and act quite inappropriately, simply because they’re following the example of the officers present. This has created a rather hostile environment for all parties involved, with things such as “bullying” becoming quite prominent.
During raids or trainings, officers will often be more focused on talking to the few soldiers in the Teamspeak as opposed to communicating with the rest of the Imperium forces ingame. And of course, the soldiers who actively communicate with the officer in the teamspeak are far more likely to be promoted than the soldiers who were not in the teamspeak. While soldiers being promoted for performing jobs well is not necessarily a bad thing, it does give an unfair advantage to a select few, and I, the author, believe that this can be remedied by encouraging members of the Imperium to better organize themselves within the Teamspeak server itself, and also to try to convince others to get Teamspeak so that they will have more equal opportunities.
While many of our members use Teamspeak, it is not always utilized effectively, most of the soldiers preferring to stay and chat in a single channel rather than sorting into proper channels for raids and defenses. I believe that this is also partially the fault of the officers for not taking enough initiative.
Server administration rights have been given to multiple users, however; this presents a problem in itself: Admin abuse. It is quite common for an angry user who has been given administrative rights to blatantly and outright ban those who they dislike or disagree with, even if they had done nothing wrong to their knowledge, or have done something on accident and haven’t been given time to explain themselves before the hammer fell. I propose that all users being given administrative powers be taught to actually use them properly, before they are given banning rights willy-nilly.
With the growing number of female soldiers in the Grand Imperium, officers and soldiers alike tend to familiarize themselves with a very select few and in some cases end up coupling off into a private channel. In some cases, this is classified as Online Dating and is against ROBLOX Terms and Conditions, and is also frowned upon within the Grand Imperium, due to the many issues it causes both directly and indirectly. I believe better regulation and stricter guidelines for users will help remedy this.
Even though many officers encourage the use of Teamspeak 3, it is often unavailable to most of the group. Often due to parental issues, hardware issues, or general unwillingness to participate in a social environment with VoIP. This relates back to the issue where many officers that are in the teamspeak focus only on the soldiers that are in the channel with them, or they assume a soldier is in the Teamspeak and attempts to give instructions through VoIP rather than through in-game team chat.
Before the Teamspeak was even established, Skype and Steam were mainly used as off-site communication sources. They’ve worked extremely well, and continue to do so regardless of the use of Teamspeak or not. Skype enabled soldiers to act immature in a private manner without punishment and use it for on-duty events such as Trainings and such. The Teamspeak 3 Server added a bigger burden to the communications and was not needed except for the final battles with various groups. Since then, however, final battles have become frowned upon within the Grand Imperium.
In conclusion, the Teamspeak 3 server has been a major source of many issues within the Grand Imperium, and its Officer Corps. It resulted in many issues that caused havoc such as favoritism, online dating, cliques, bullying, and many more such things. Due to these facts, I, the author, believe that usage of Teamspeak 3 within the Grand Imperium should be better regulated and moderated, or simply restricted altogether.

| I support you, and if it doesn't happen, aka if they REFUSE to fix the major flaw of the group, you should just use your valuable time elsewhere. |

Though I'd rather see it reformed effectively rather then completely shut down.

No major reformations; that will only make it worse, haven't you noticed that each change made on the TS3 is worse than the last?
If it goes unofficial, TGI will still reside in it. As members of TGI, they will have some awareness of events being hosted, and if an they want to, an officer can pop in and inform them of events currently be hosted. Communication through the program is still possible during events, but it does not need to be enforced. As long as they have maturity in-game, there's no issue. |

| Besides X/f, I don't really see any positives in using TS3 or anything like that because it leads to favouritism and social circles. |

I only think the teamspeak being demolished would be necessary would be if the reformations do not work. But honestly most of these things I can agree on Smog. |

Aye, I'm with Rodger on that, as I said in my former post.
Making it unofficial has more benefits than anything. |

Removing a TS that mordor has been paying real life money for just because people don't know how tot talk to each other would be stupid.
The TS should remain, but be made completely unofficial. We can still use it for raids and stuff like that, but all the really serious stuff should be done the old fashion way.
For example, meetings should take place in the meeting room at the palace like they used to, that was always fun. |
