Our teacher was on some rant about political stuff and then just gave us our math homework without explaining it and it's a NEW CONCEPT. can someone explain how to simplify the term x2(x+1) with steps? |

| distribute the 2 so it's x * 2x + 2 then combine the like terms, so it's 3x +2 (I THINK) |

| i dont really know how to explain it, but if you have 2(x + 1) you can use the distributive property and, like, distrubute... so you multiply the 2 by each part of the equation in the parenthesis, so you have 2x + 2*1 which is 2x + 2 |

x2(x+1) do you mean 2x? no such thing as x2. it'd be 2x(x+1) then, multiply the x and the 1 in the parentheses the answer would be 2x + 2 note, if the number outside the parentheses is not grouped with a variable (i.e., 2 instead of 2x) it'd still be the same. |

@momo no, that's technically incorrect because you aren't writing it correctly and x times 2 is still x2 also, your dad is wrong. |

Stop lying to the kid.... use this website for help: http://www.wolframalpha.com
The answer is already simplified... if you want to distribute it then it would be
2x^2+x pronounced: Two x squared plus x |

| @ex it's just another way to write it. if that's the way the problem was written, then they mean x * 2. my teacher has written it like that before |
