| Anime, just because cartoons aren't built around as large an age range as anime is. If there was anything western aimed at teenagers-adults I'm sure I'd enjoy it |

@Nil You must have not ever seen any of these shows but it's not like they are really popular or anything: South Park, Family Guy, American Dad, Cleveland Show, Robot Chicken, Adventure Time, Regular Show, Spongebob, And basically everything on Cartoon Network.
But I'm probably the ONLY person who has ever heard of those shows.
But to the topic, Cartoons. With Anime, you have to watch entire seasons to get into plot, some of it is wierd and creepy, and a lot just doesn't make sense to me. |

| Anime and Western cartoons are two completely unrelatable subjects. |

No, Adventure Time, Spongebob, and anything on Cartoon Network do not count as shows for teenagers or adults. Sure, they might have a few things thrown in under the radar designed for older audiences looking back, but they are still most definitely designed to appeal to a certain age range. The other problem with what you're saying is that everything there is comedic or a parody. While I respect parody and comedy as genres, it is completely incorrect to gauge the depth and even maturity of a medium based on a single genre. As far as stories go, anime is literally only defined by its heavy use of animation and symbols. With anime, you see parody and comedy like in western animation, but from there you get everything from Puella Magi Madoka Magicka to Elfen Lied to Cowboy Bebop. I don't think stories of those types even exist yet in the cartoon world; hell, you can see this just by the mental image that comes to mind when you think of cartoons. The length and seriousness of some anime works is what diversifies anime and makes it overall more respectable as a medium than cartoons. But really, I'd like to see western animation reach the prevalence anime has. If you can show me an analogue to Madoka Magicka or Cowboy Bebop in cartoons, I will take back my opinion, kiss the ground you walk upon, and worship the golden world that is America. Until then, though, I'll stick with my view that anime is better than cartoons. |

>Story There is an anime about bread. There are tons of anime's against religion (Ex: FullMetal Alchemist). Most anime stories don't even make sense to me.
But there are some anime I like. If you count Kingdom Hearts as an anime even though it's a game. Naruto isn't bad. |

@Thun They ARE Relatable, Its like comparing two different books, Both of them got paper, and maybe one its an historic book and the other its a fantasy one, But they can be compared, as they are both books. Same with anime and Western cartoons, both are totally diferent types of animation, That can be grouped Beacuse Cartoons allways have one thing in common, they are made by Western people. Same with the anime, they are all made by japonese.
Back in topic, I prefer Anime, even as my favorite show of all time is a Cartoon, beacuse you allways find lots of diferent choices to see, the western cartoons are limited to the ones aired by Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon(That are the ones most seen) |

| You're not seriously thinking that just because some examples of anime are silly that makes the entire form the same way, are you? Because if so, I'm done arguing. Right now you're showing me that not only are you refusing to apply your own claimed logic, you're criticizing something for having an antitheist viewpoint. I don't care whether you're the most religious person in the world or a staunch atheist, you are not allowed to dismiss things for having a viewpoint that does not agree with yours. That is the One True Law of criticism and debate. End of story. |

| Like I said, I like anime. I just think some of it is so stupid in the story. No, I wasn't just using those examples, those are ones off the top of my head. Almost every anime I have seen has a confusing story. I think they try to hard to go way in depth. And I'm not allowed to dismiss something because I don't agree with it? So if a story is against everything I believe in "But has a good story" I am supposed to like it? |

| Obviously Anime, I mean, it just is way better in NEARLY every way. My opinion, do not question it. |

| I'm not saying you have to like it, but in your post about FMA and whatever the bread anime was you were most definitely implying that those things were refutations to my point, when really it's the exact opposite. It's like the Catcher in the Rye; personally, I completely disagree with the book and everything it stands for but I acknowledge that it plays a pretty important role in American literature. Another example is modern art; sure, it might not deserve the insane amounts of money paid for it, but art is art whether you like it or not. FMA demonstrates the diversity of anime whether you agree with its tenets or not. |

FMA isn't against religion, it's against people who toy with life and think of themselves as gods. |
