It took me about a week to gain rudimentary knowledge of Lua's workings.
I wouldn't say that I was 'proficient' until many months after I began working with it, though. |

| The main syntax took me about 10 minutes or so, and a week to actually get a hold of scripting stuff. However, the libraries are constantly expanding in RBX.Lua, so I don't know every little new feature ROBLOX puts in their language. |

The libraries in RBX.Lua aren't constantly expanding. They rarely add new things. |

| When I meant "constantly expanding", I meant they added new things and I don't know everything. |

6-12 months to be good.
2 years to script in an intelligent way and go through problems in a proper way. This is what matters more than anything else. |

Always learning, always learning.
I guess I got the easy stuff down in less than 3 months. Achieved a lot of experience from working together with a much more experienced. I'm in the 9th month right now, currently taking math to the knee and trying to do the impossible. Because why not?

To learn basic programming in lua, it took me about a day.
To refine what I had learned and ensure I had nailed all of the advanced topics of Lua, it took more than a year. |

| Logic was inherent to me. I understood most of intermediate Lua in 3-4 hours. All I remember is sitting down as a small child, running through the Roblox Wiki and picking up nearly instantly. |

mar thinks he's "PRO"
Why is it that people in Roblox (at least in SH) think for loops are pro -.- They are like what, 4/10 on a scale, maybe less. |

Competence in a language is based on an understanding. The deeper of an understanding one has into how something happens, the better one is at utilizing it effectively.
You aren't "pro at math" if you know how to multiply 27 by 37 and can't find the value that makes x^4=x+1 true. You're at the top of the bottom. |

Oh god it's useless, huh?
Everything you have ever done on your virtual life (oh wait, that is your full life) was in some way scripted.
Including your little stupid maplestory game |

@1waf, I know I'm pretty much a noob at math. (Blame the schools for not teaching me enough, hehe) But I don't think that value even exists. Not that I know how to prove that, I just kind of get that it doesn't. Somewhat anyway.

I also go to bad schools, that's why you should learn online. I was in your situation, now I'm learning online and even Absurd gave me some lessons |

| When I started actually trying, it toke me a week to figur out how Game.Workspace.... Or script.Parent..... Worked. Then I changed some properties of bricks etc. then I used the while true do. And I'm still learning new things. So it actually toke me 1,5 years to learn how I script now. |
