Good news everyone!
The number 1 bug report for the dynamic lighting has been "parts don't block light". For us it's actually not a bug, but a big missing feature - it's hard to do it in a fast way.
I'm really excited to tell you that we did it. On any light object there's a new property, Shadows, and if you enable it, light from that object will be blocked by parts. It's off by default and selective - we don't change the way your places look and you can toggle that on only for some lights.
A few caveats apply; mainly, since our lighting is voxel-based and voxel size is 4 studs, your walls have to be 4-stud thick to completely block the light.
I made a quick demo: http://www.roblox.com/Shadow-demo-place?id=115280442 (note that the movement of parts is not smooth - that's because I used server scripts to move parts and I should've used something else). I know you guys can do better than that :)
Play with this and tell me what you think. If you see bugs, please post a link to the place that shows the bug (preferably a small place where the error is easy to spot). If you make something cool with this, post a link! |

Sweet, I love it!
I also like that it was posted here as opposed to on the blog, not that the blog is a bad thing. |

tummey2, there will be a blog post; I want to gather some feedback before we do it. And hey, if you make a cool place we may feature it in the blog article! |

wow, a feature that should have been available on release is conveniently out right after the protests against the price floor
maybe if we keep complaining we'll get more features that we want like user meshes and online saving |

| That can make a big improvement in games, however, thumbnail skyboxes are glitched; it should follow the 'game.Lighting.TimeOfDay'. |

| Part shadows was actually the main reason I was excited for dynamic lighting so this is great. |

Awesome!
Although I noticed on your demo place that the light emanating from the door buttons still bleeds through the walls they hang from a bit. None of the other lights bled through though.
It could just be that the walls where only 3 studs thick instead of 4, and I am not as good at judging part lengths as I think I am. |

| tahu157: Lights in buttons actually have shadows disabled :) that's why they bleed through the wall. |

So will that bleeding through the wall ever be "fixed" or "removed?" Like you can still see the light color from the other side (you get what I'm saying...) |
