| They enable you to use the power from multiple GPUs to get better framerates. However, it is generally advised to go for a single, more powerful card instead of going for 2 weaker ones. |

@sama, I wouldn't say it's advised to go with a single card generally, unless you're aiming at low-slight high end. |

A single card generally has lower power consumption and doesn't have the issues that come with multi-GPU setups. Also multi-GPU setups only use the memory bandwidth of a single card, so at high-resolution gaming going with more, weaker cards is worse. So overall if you compared a single, more powerful GPU to 2 GPUs costing the same amount, the single card should win. |

@Sama, But what if you're aiming at 660 ti SLI? It's on par with the 780-Titan, yet is substantially less in terms of price; not to mention the memory bandwidth of a single card should be enough. Also, power consumption for the SLI 660 ti's is a about 60-70w more than the 780 or less for some brands, which really isn't monstrous. |
