| It is annoying how people try to sound like the smartest people ever by saying this. People who are from Guatemala or Bolivia aren't considered American, people from the US are considered American. That is just how they identify, nobody in the US will identify as United Statesian. It may be technically correct what you are saying but nobody identifies as American outside America and you don't look any smarter by saying they are American so please stop. |

| I do agree that American is the demonym of the United States, but I think it's better to refer to the United States of America as 'United States' instead of 'America'. |

| No, I'm talking about the name of the place, not the people. I knew you were quite lacking in the comprehension area. |

I wish I didn't have to repeat myself.

I do agree that American is the demonym of the United States. I agree that you call someone from the United States an American. Someone from the United States is an 'American'.
But I think it's better to refer to the United States of America as 'United States' instead of 'America'. The United States of America's name shouldn't be shortened to America. It should be named the 'United States', 'USA', et cetera.
Do you understand now? |

@civilization
I made a negative source, you have to prove that people do because you are making a positive claim. I have never heard a non-American refer to themselves as American. |

My opinion: If someone is from the United States, I would call them 'Americans'. But if someone is from Brazil, Peru etc., I would call them 'South Americans'.
P.S. South America is called...South America, and the United States is called North America. So it would help to call people 'North Americans' and 'South Americans' depending on which country they live, within those two Americas. |

| Hey, you're wrong, United States is not North America. North America is Canada, the United States, Mexico, Guatemala, Jamaica, Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Costa Rica, Panama, et cetera. The United States is simply just the United States of 'America'. |

But in all honesty...
Who cares?
The only people I see complaining about (United statesians) being referred to as Americans are people who don't live in the Americas. |

I just don't care what you said and frankly you are part of a petty minority that does care. |

If you truly didn't care, you wouldn't have replied to my opinion. |
