Barony Name: Quelta

Kingdom Name: Quelta is part of the kingdom of Walds. Lord Quelta, however, is not the king.

Government: Monarchy

Culture: Central European-based

Coat of Arms: A dark green and medium-gray checkered shield with a black auroch bull's head on front.

DOMINANT RELIGION: Christian-esque folk superstition

Villages: Talan, Fitzgan and Jackelshire. Fitzgan is situated closest to the castle.

CASTLE NAME: The Queltan Keep

MILITARY: 200

COUNTRY DESCRIPTION: A temperate zone with hills, forests and grassplains.

Brief History: Lord Queltan I used to be an angry local bailiff who advocated to the local lord who used to control the area that is now known as Quelta for independence. He represented the three villages. The lord, highly drunk at the time, signed the form granting him his estates. To celebrate, Queltan and a few followers built a keep out of a ton of scrap wood and nails that they had to sell their wives to pay for.

Ruler: Lord Queltan IV

Military Commander: The Sheriff, Gram Paulers.

Starting Captains: Karlin, Drame, Parcers and Hersh. Each control 50 men.

FOUNDED: Unfortunately, the scribe keeping track of this was shanked while walking home from work and his logbook was lost. The next scribe they hired couldn't read so he didn't keep track of anything.

______________________________________________________________________________________

"Ah, welcome Lord Queltan! To your humble kingdom! Amazing, is it not? ....Right, I take that as a no, well, important matters demand, and if you are, my lord, going to rise to power we need to SECURE your kingdom, you know, pesky bandits, everywhere! What? My name? Oh apologies, mi'leige, I am your humble adviser, Kersebleptos. Odd name I concur, but onto the matters at hand. Our treasury is depleting quickly, my lord,I suspect a spy."

"But that's not it! We've got bandits leaking in from the east and west, and House Tyan coming in from the south, however our alliance House Aerworth will come in handy. I don't mean to frighten you my leige, but Karlin's forces are outnumbered by a horde of bandits, his fifty men have provisions for three weeks, no more, his fort is still standing, however. Talan's levies have also been eradicated entirely by bandits, who now occupy it, sacking, killing and you-know-whating. Thankfully, Jackelshire has held of the bandits who intruded on their land, and their levy archers and spearman are uses to command until you wish to disband them, beware though, every unit must be paid, so the larger armies, the more you have to pay! I wish you luck on your journey to power, my lord! Good-luck, and God-speed!"

"This concerns me greatly. Get me some bourbon. How many idle troops do I have right now? I'm in no mood for math. Also, tell people that signing up to become an elite peasant-armed-with-a-piece-of-farming-equipment will result in two thirds of a levy's wages. and a bonus pat-on-the-back and possible a jug of ale if they kill someone I don't like or burn a building down whose existence as a building that has not been burned down is unsatisfactory to me. Understand?"

"Also, why is House Tyan attacking me again? As for the spy problem--Install a lock that requires a key to open. If the door doesn't take locks, tear it out and get a new door that CAN take locks. Then hire an elite peasant with a stick to guard it for a few hours every night--but don't give him the key. Only the treasurer and you and I get keys."

"Mr. Iptacens, please go get our lord some bourbon." He says to a scrawny, obviously peasant, the peasant nods and rushes off. "Idle troops, my lord. One-hundred, Drame and Pacers. Mr. Eptepyris, please go to a messenger and spread the lord's decree. The reason probably is that this land is fertile and could serve as a foot-hold in these lands. As for our spy problem, we have attempted that, he simply finds his way inside, and by what we can tell, the door is never-opened from the outside..And I'll alert one of them to stand on guard duty...but why a stick?"

"A stick. Ah...Oh. So we can knock him out and then I can get someone to poke him with a branding iron for being a twit. What are the other ways the tower can be accessed? If there are any, put bear traps near 'em. Bear traps solve problems. If for some reason there ARE no other entry points other than the door, get three people with knives or hatchets to search the tower thoroughly. Every nick and crannie."

"Fertile land, eh? Let's start growing some potatoes in the hinterland of my keep. Then we'll make mashed potatoes. I like mashed potatoes. So, get the forces of Drame and Pacers to go about making some shields out of timber, and get local carpenters, carvers, fletchers and armourers to assist. Give them a few coins for their trouble. Do I happen to have any surplus armour and arms that are not currently in use?"

"Also, tell the local reeve to give a speech on how much of a huge maggot that rival lord is. The speech shall include the encouraging of burning down buildings that belong to him, and lynching those who support him. Hooray."

"I'll get them to do so right away, there are no nooks or crannies we know about. Perhaps the young master..? Children are always good for finding nooks and crannies..."

"Yes, Mi'lord...We'll begin to grow...potatoes in your keep. [SARCASM DOES NOT EXIST IN ADVISER DICTIONARY.] Drame and Pacers will get onto doing that right away, and so will the citizens in helping them, I'll distribute fifty sequizths per helper, that should keep them tame. And yes, we have an almost bizarre amount of surplus armor, maces and axes, mostly chainmail, although there's a few helmets and iron cuirasses. Sword-wise? We know how hard they are to come by."

"He'll be on it right away, or we shall have him....?"

"Children? Yes! Excellent idea. Still, have a guy with a knife be there in case the thief is living inside the treasury and is armed."

"...not IN my keep. OUTSIDE of it. Outside the walls. In the the hinterland. Like little unprotected gardens. Unless local farms from The Fitz are using it--in that case, switch to radishes and have a little garden in the courtyard. A small garden. Give an old woman or kid a few coins to manage it."

"Give chainmail to people who look like they can actually carry the weight. And distribute the helmets and cuirasses to sergeants. Give axes and maces to as many people as we can, and make sure the rest at least have pitchforks, and hopefully rawhide armour."

"Give our good reeve a helmet first, in case someone happens to support Lord Maggot in the crowd and throws a rock at him while he's giving his motivational speech. If someone DOES throw a rock, then it will bounce off of his helmet. Science."

"Do not wake the lord, quickly, out, both of you." Says a hushed voice, there are footsteps of people leaving. Whoever it was in here, they're now gone.

He quickly wakes up, and looks around. He decides to depart from this room and climb up to one of the towers and inspect the land.

You find two soldiers who follow you, they follow you all the way to the armoury, and then one waits outside whilst the other continues to follow, the armorer just finished equipping the last levy spearman of platoon one.

"How is the other platoon doing? Are they equipped?" He asks.

Also, tell the nearest soldier to go and tell both captains that I want the levies to train. I want them to practise sparring with quarterstaffs, do push-ups and run laps around Fitzgan village.

[Switching to first person.]

"Excellent! I hope you enjoy your payment," I walk back to the keep and take my two guards with me. I go and sit down at my desk and produce a quill and ink, and begin to think before I begin to write on a piece of parchment.

I know how to make Lord Maggot back off. Yesss, I know how to. "Someone get me a map!" I call. When one arrives, check and see how close the Kingdom of Ascendia is.

Send one platoon to Talan. Offer peasants to come with the troops to liberate the village.

Send the other to assist Karlin. Also offer peasants to tag along.
