The following are the (Basic, but subject to change) laws voted on by the democratic assembly of Hellas. They where proposed by various citizens, and then voted on. All things with a majority vote have become law. You are required to read this forum to get into the group. If you are in the group, you're required to know these laws. If you are visiting one of our cities, the most important ones are listed on signs all accross the city, marked by a statue of Athena, and a plaque. There are (Rough) Greek and English translations.
Section One,Article One,
The Basic Laws:
Murder is prohibited, and punishable by death. For punishments, see article two, section one.
Assault is prohibited, and punishable by jail time. On the second offense, an extended jail time.On the third, demotion for group members, and deportation for visitors.
Section One,Article Two,
The following are lesser crimes.
Theft is prohibited, and is punishable by a flogging, jail time, or losing the hand that stole the item.
Piloting a boat owned by the navy is strictly prohibited. The exception:It is an emergency, and no other person in the immediate vacinity is qualified to pilot the trireme.
Section One, Article Three,
The following are very minor crimes, though still punishable by law.
The use of the qoute "THIS IS SPARTAAA!!" Admitted, people use it for fun,and is often found comical or well accepted in social situations. However, the issue is that the movie "300" generated an innaccurate stereotype about Hellenes, and can be considered insulting to people (Modern Greeks and Persians). The punishment is merely a lecture on why this is disliked.
Carrying an extended conversation using multiple lines. It is highly frowned upon for the reason that it can be hard to understand or follow what you're chatting. (I.e) "Wait," "What," "If we," "Go to," "The," "Bar."
Punishment: You're not allowed to drink liqour for the duration of one day game time. Violating the punishment:Jailtime
Section Two,Article One,
Punishments for murder: Brazen Bull (Nick named "Jeremy"), tied to a post in the agora(Market) and stabbed to death, death by sword, kicked off the acropolis, poison. (Hemlock)
Acceptions: Self defense is a valid cause for killing a person. Though it is prefered you attempt to spare them, you will not (If you can prove you aren't the aggressor) be punished.
Theft: Taking back something that is yours. Though prefered you talk to the poleis guards or hoplites, if you can prove it was stolen from you,you have the right to take it back.
Trireme pilotting:It is an emergency, and no other person in the immediate vacinity is qualified to pilot the trireme.
"This is Sparta" qoute: If paraphrasing, replying, or simply mentioning it as something said by another person. This law is often "Lightly" enforced, and is subject to ammendment if a majority vote is reached.
Multi-lined chats: Sometimes, people do this to strongly itterate a short point. (I.e) "HOPLITES!" "FORM" "THE" "PHALANX!" (second example)
"HELP!" "I'M" "BEING" "ATTACKED"
The acceptions are in conditions where it is neccissary to chat, though are unable to stop moving so that you can type it all out at once.
[Conclusion]
These are the laws and rules of Hellas. They are enforced by the poleis guards (Hoplites, or otherwise state-employed combat units) Follow and respect them.If you're a group member, you need to know them. |
