The quality of decals is just bad. So the idea is to let us upload decals that will be shown in-game exactly as they were when they were uploaded. Some of you might think a few problems will come with this, but I've taken my time to address the problems I could think of.
- STORAGE SPACE: One of the arguments I have seen against high definition decals is that they would take too much space on ROBLOX servers. ROBLOX keeps a copy of each and every version of a place you upload, and I believe it does that for other assets too. So storage space isn't a problem at all. - PERFORMANCE: It's true, a large amount of high definition decals might lag on older computers. So I suggest that, as soon as a decal is uploaded, the ROBLOX servers would create a few different versions of them, each with a different degree of optimization. The best one would be exactly like the one that was uploaded (keeping the resolution!) and the worst one would be like decals nowadays. Then a ROBLOX client should automatically pick the version of decal it should load and display, according to the quality settings of the user. That way, there wouldn't be performance drop for older computers, and newer ones that can support good graphics would be able to take advantage of high definition decals. - ABUSE: If there still is any concern about storage space, or about players using this feature too much, uploading decals could cost, say, 20 tickets. If one doesn't want to spend 20 tix to upload a HD decal it's probably not worth it.
Post your opinions.
TL;DR We want HD decals. |

Yes, I agree.
But keep in mind textures are really one of the top lag makers. A great idea would be for image quality to increase with your graphics settings :-D |

If so, the graphics in settings might come to use, say if you set the Graphics on 10, which the server will then show you the graphics in HD, and if you set it on 1, it would show you the ones nowadays.
Also, I don't really enjoy the part on paying, I play Yu-Gi-Oh GX and I sometimes make more than 30 decals just to make a simple deck.
Any who, support. |

| Support, but BC only option. The reason is because it would take much more server space to store higher definition decals, and thus free users could spam gigabytes of high-res images and the system would slow down ROBLOX as a whole. |

your always gonna get low definition decals because people tend to make the decals exremely large; hence they lack resolution because the pixels are larger.
god dangit why did you have to do that |
