You obviously don't know realism/history.
Are you talking about that guy that was just sentenced for doing those things to the three women? |

No it's all just symbolic.
Someone got a sentence of '2 lives+10,000 years'.
The judge is basically trying to say that the person/offence was so bad that an incredibly long sentence is required to fit the crime.
The worse the crime, the longer the sentence. So after a life sentence they just add on years to symbolise the severity of the crime, despite that is will not serve a purpose. |

I honestly agree, what is the point of, for instance giving someone 12 sentences of life? Is it just a: "May his bones rot in this prison" or is there actually some reason for this? |

Well it depends on how many charges and what the charges were.
They aren't going to stop at a certain limit of time for the punishment.
This man has hundreds of charges that account for murder and such. So say that a murder charge was a punishment of a 100 year life sentence, They aren't going to stop at the punishment of just that one because of how long the sentence is. They must carry out with all other charges and punish them accordingly. Which apparently it all added up to 1000 extra years upon a life sentence.
Unfortunately the man (I forgot his name) hung himself to avoid his humongous life sentence.
Philip DeFranco did a segment on it in a recent video of his on youtube. |

You're an idiot if you're really questioning this.
It doesn't matter anyway the guy was hung in his jail cell. |

You all realise, he is dead?
And also, I think, if they were there for 1000 years, then they might let them go. |

Personally I think the norwegian system is superior to the american right here. Your judgements are too strict. In Norway max time in jail is 21 years. You can, however, be separated from society for a lifetime if you are very ill mentally.
21 years is enough for any sane person if you put them through the correct processes while in jail. |

not entirely sure but i would assume they do it so its nearly impossible to get the person out if jail
so if an attorney does successfully win the case with solid evidence, they would remove the "life in jail" sentence but the "1000 years in jail" part would stay
but then again, im not too sure |
