Very Casual -- only regurgitated garbage, mostly social/mobile apps. Example: Farmville
Casual -- Simple games largely devoid of difficulty, easy to pick up and play. Example: Skyrim
Core -- Usually little or some challenge to games, often in the multiplayer component. Example: Call of Duty
Mid-Hardcore -- Games focused on challenge rather than instant gratification. Example: Dark Souls
Hardcore -- Games that require a reasonable timesink to learn the ropes of, and are also very difficult to pickup and play game mechanics are usually very deep. Example: Grand strategy games, especially 5-6x+
Very Hardcore -- Games that only the most jaded, basement dwelling neckbeard can play with skill or knowledge. Learning curve steep as everest, with mechanics deeper than the mariana trench. Example: Dwarf Fortress, or Nethack |

| Skyrim is not a casual game. There's difficulty options for a reason. |

| i'd say the majority of games i play fall in the core/mid-hardcore/hardcore range, a couple in casual and one or two in very hardcore |

@Mage It doesn't help that a lot of people complaining about games appealing to more than hrdcroXxX gmerzzZz aren't even smart enough to find the difficulty settings, i.e. Skyrim. |
