conquered europe, killing tens of thousands in the process
that DEFINES him as bad
but in my opinion, he wasn't bad, neither was the "German". |

For example, as Time magazine reported (June 24, 1985), Mengele (proclaimed angel of death of Auschwitz) was "given to occasional flourishes of gallantry: after transferring an expecting Jewish doctor to Cracow to do research for him, Mengele sent her flowers upon the birth of her son."

for france, he established the national bank, public schools, better roads he fixed the economy when it needed him the most
and he wasn't invading other countries with ideas of elitism, he genuinely had good intentions so even if he was doing things the wrong way, 'bad person' can't be used to describe him
every time he captured a city, he would emancipate the jews he would accept everyone into his world as an equal he was fairer than the monarchy ever was, and a great general at the start of his career people liked him and people still like him, the french often look back with pride
there was a lot of pressure on him other leaders didn't like him because they were afraid of revolution they saw the french monarchy tossed away so easily, and replaced with someone better so, out of fear of revolution in their own country, they never treated napoleon well
perhaps if napoleon had taken europe entirely, the europe we have today would be a better one |
