Some time during the 2300s, the Sovereign Colonies became embroiled in a major conflict known as the Secession War that pitted them against the Earth Government. As the war raged on, their support among the public began to wane. Compounded with flagging resources, the Sovereign Colonies were at a loss in regards to continue the war when the Colonies’ council authorized the Classified expedition to Tau Volantis. Despite of their efforts to find alternatives to energy for their cause, the Sovereign Colonies eventually lost the war to Earth Government; the combined loss of forces on and above Tau Volantis resulted in a complete full scale Retreat of their remaining Military and Fleet into the Star's, what ships remained in Earth Space fled with Sovereign Colonies Military Personnel and Citizens. They would face a number of triumph's like Dwindling Resources, Numbers and Locating a fitting Location to set down and Re-Build. But, they all promised one thing; The Sovereign Colonies would eventually return to Earth and take Vengeance upon Earth Government.

| [To me it always sounds like their own incompetence, utter greed and tyranny got them killed instead. It probably rests on the balance of The Circle or Earth-GoV security forces, SCAF never interested me.] |

| [Earth Gov aren't really featured in the games, in the game 'currently' we've only seen a few EDF marines in extended universe films/drawings, and the 'EarthGov' in DS2 were Titan Security Officers. Hardly the true thing.] |

5. Among others, the following types of attacks are to be considered as indiscriminate:

(b) an attack which may be expected to cause incidental loss of civilian life, injury to civilians, damage to civilian objects, or a combination thereof, which would be excessive in relation to the concrete and direct military advantage anticipated.
6. Attacks against the civilian population or civilians by way of reprisals are prohibited.
7. The presence or movements of the civilian population or individual civilians shall not be used to render certain points or areas immune from military operations, in particular in attempts to shield military objectives from attacks or to shield, favour or impede military operations.
