Just because everyone uses it doesn't mean it's the best. It's laggy, annoying, the video files are too big, it takes forever to process. It'll take your FPS from 60 down to 20 no problem.
Use Dxtory, it costs $4 more but is better in every aspect |

@sama
What's an SSD going to do? The FPS is determined 70% by your GPU, 1% by your disk drive and 29% by the CPU |

| But when recording it significantly increases CPU and HDD load, so if the video can be recorded to an SSD it makes the game significantly faster if it has to load a new area and can also reduce CPU load. |

I don't have a issue with fraps.
It works fine with any game I want to play. |

also
"What's an SSD going to do? The FPS is determined 70% by your GPU, 1% by your disk drive and 29% by the CPU"
actually the fps with fraps varies quite a bit with disk speed as it uses a lossless codec, i.e. it's constantly writing to the hard drive |

@Awsum Yes we do. As that's the only way to record decently.

"only drops my frames by around 20%"
20% is pretty significant.
20% of 60 FPS is 12. which is a lot. |

20% = 1/5
A little perspective. |
