There was this guy at the farm progress show (I had to go with my father, it wasn't that bad.) and he happened to have some sort of religious setup in the middle of the place, which was very odd as everything around him was all business and the farm progress show contains absolutely no religion otherwise.
This guy was initially creepy because he kept asking children to come look in this stupid box he had, but he totally crossed a line when he literally grabbed me and asked me to do so. I peered inside the box, and it was just a mirror, and he said something like "Do you see what Jesus died for, young man?" and I nearly vomited from that horrid reference to that one time I had to go to church camp for only one day.
I lied and told him I was Christian and then I began to walk away, and then he did something utterly out of line in my opinion; He asked a child who was obviously Buddhist (Or muslim, I wasn't really sure. One of those two.) if he believed in god.
I sort of freaked out and told him that if his 'god' was so wonderful and caring, he would not care if people believed in him and would be fine that they didn't. He ignored me and asked the kid again, who was obviously getting very uncomfortable at this time, if he once again believed in god, and I got very angry at him, telling him that the point of this show was to learn about agriculture and not convert religion. He told me that 'God would save anyone even if they were a sinner', and by then the kid had left and went to his parents.
I just ended up with telling him that anyone was allowed to worship what they pleased, and if one person chooses to worship a different god than him, they were not a 'sinner', as he had said. And then, I just left.
I'm very glad he didn't go on after that, because I was on the verge of slapping the man. I hope he had a good day pestering people with his beliefs. |
