Would it decrease or increase the overall quality of Roblox's games, do you think? I was thinking of making a plugin for it, but I thought it thru and I've come to the conclusion that there are cons, and a few pros.

Pros:
• Would make people quit acting like complete idiots
• Would make it easier for some people's ideas to be created

Cons:
• Would make it easier for some people's ideas to be created
• Would convince users they could script
• May increase the amount of spam in this sub-forum

Any comments?

That would take out the problem solving section of scripting.

If the main scripting language were C# then there might be a case for it.

Lua being as simple a language as it is, it's such a small step moving from actually being able to make what you want in a visual language to using Lua to do it that there's not much point.

Let me revise your pros and cons, dekkonot.

Pros:
• Allows complete lazy-bums to learn how to make mildly okay games (I don't know if this should even be a pro)

Cons:
• Would make complete idiots think they know what they're doing and completely fill our forum with spam.
• Would convince users who cannot script that they can.
• Would introduce a new level of stupidity on ROBLOX.
• Would increase the amount of 'stupid' games on the front page.
• Would reduce overall quality of ROBLOX.

It would seem all your cons are based on the idea that everyone is stupid and doesn't really change how scripting is at it's current state.

No. There are ton of intelligent people on here (yes saying tons is an exaggeration) who do not script. They build, do graphics or other things.

I don't really see why this would be a terrible thing. The two main issues with people's scripts are either logic-based or they don't quite get the specific syntax. I'm imagining a Scratch-like system, where the 'blocks' are easy to read and simple to understand. Like, say you wanted to add a variable to the code. You could add a 'set variable' block and then enter the name and value of the variable into two seperate textboxes. It could take care of the syntax while teaching logic by, say, telling if a conditional passed or not.

Yeah, I get that Lua isn't exactly a difficult language to pick up, but it's still a programming language, and that scares away a lot of people who want to learn. They'll look at long pieces of code and just see this block of text and they nope out before they really get into it, or get frustrated with little issues.

IDK, it'd be a lot of work to do properly, but it would be pretty awesome if it was.

@flatline
But if they truly wanted to script, they would be.

The fact the people who are lazy and cannot script will benefit the most out of this sickens me.

That's why I am going to guess that he will not make it. Or at least I hope not.

"programmers these days they get so lazy they made switch statements"

The switch statement represents a different construct than an if statement. An if statement represents conditional execution, whereas a switch statement represents a jump table, that is, that the destination address is directly computable from an input value using a simple formula or lookup table.

Also, switch is a very old statement, it was around long before C++.
