I mean, Fabulous Disaster and Impact Is Imminent and Pleasures of the Flesh are classics, no doubt about it but I find Bonded By Blood to be extremely overrated
meanwhile, I think that stuff like Tempo of The Damned and Shovel-Headed Kill Machine are absolutely spellbinding why do so many thrash fans hate those albums? they're heavier than their old stuff, faster than some of their old stuff, and have insane riffs and awesome double bass
is it because all the 80's thrashers wish that their overrated king Baloff was still around to save them from that "metalcore singer" Chris Dukes?

| The only guy named Chris who ever played in Exodus is some drummer they used in 1993 for concerts... |

@Crash yeah Exhibit B kicks ass too
I might also be the only person that prefers the LTBB version of Bonded By Blood over the original but oh god the production on BBB is god awful and Baloff was not a good vocalist at all, man

"I mean, Fabulous Disaster and Impact Is Imminent and Pleasures of the Flesh are classics, no doubt about it but I find Bonded By Blood to be extremely overrated"
Bonded by Blood is extremely great, how do you find it to be overrated?
"meanwhile, I think that stuff like Tempo of The Damned and Shovel-Headed Kill Machine are absolutely s spellbinding"
These albums aren't bad in the slightest.
"why do so many thrash fans hate those albums? they're heavier than their old stuff, faster than some of their old stuff, and have insane riffs and awesome double bass"
Different reasons, one may compare them to a different band that is loads better which makes Exodus look lame in total. Some people just like their older albums better. Also, Exodus isn't 100% thrash, they do groove in some of those later albums you mentioned.
"is it because all the 80's thrashers wish that their overrated king Baloff was still around to save them from that "metalcore singer" Chris Dukes?"
i'm not going to lie, i liked baloff better as vocalist than dukes. anyone who calls dukes a "metalcore singer" is idiotic because dukes is a solid vocalist. |

@Asmodeus for me, it's Souza>Dukes>>>Baloff Baloff is an awful vocalist and that's why BBB is overrated: everyone hails it as a classic when it's plagued by awful production and horrid vocals by the way it's not very fast or heavy for a thrash album, either

Completely subjective.
"and that's why BBB is overrated: everyone hails it as a classic when it's plagued by awful production and horrid vocals"
BBB was made in 1985 and it was a debut album, you can't expect amazing production qualities. Going beyond the vocalist, the instrumental work is great.
"by the way it's not very fast or heavy for a thrash album, either"
mid-tempo thrash exists, listen to south of heaven. |

"Completely subjective" you can honestly not sit there and say that Baloff squealing like a dying cat is more entertaining than the vocals of Dukes or Souza "BBB was made in 1985 and it was a debut album, you can't expect amazing production qualities." maybe so, but debuts like Killing Is My Business and Show No Mercy still sounded better than BBB "Going beyond the vocalist, the instrumental work is great." the instrumentation is average at best for thrash at the time "mid-tempo thrash exists, listen to south of heaven." South of Heaven is my favourite album of all time, mainly because it blends fast songs and slow songs perfectly Bonded By Blood does not do that at all, it instead just moves along like a cat with two broken legs

@Crash it's true the production of KIMB and SNM, while bad, was at least better than BBB

"you can honestly not sit there and say that Baloff squealing like a dying cat is more entertaining than the vocals of Dukes or Souza"
I like Baloff's vocals because they add to the overall atmosphere of the music, like how Cronos' vocals makes Venom's music sound more diabloc, Baloff's vocals make it sound similarly to that. Saying that is like saying Death Metal vocals sound like constipated giants.
"maybe so, but debuts like Killing Is My Business and Show No Mercy still sounded better than BBB"
Actually, both of those albums had low quality. You may have heard a better produced version, like how they did with BBB after its success. Production really shouldn't bug you if you can hear the music at a satisfactory level anyway, and you can with BBB.
"the instrumentation is average at best for thrash at the time"
BBB has numerous excellent riffs, Strike of the Beast and Metal Command for starters.
"South of Heaven is my favourite album of all time, mainly because it blends fast songs and slow songs perfectly Bonded By Blood does not do that at all, it instead just moves along like a cat with two broken legs"
Good, albums are not supposed to sound alike. Maybe you should give BBB another try.
