i learned a small bit of lua and now realize that it isn't good for much except roblox and i don't have intentions of playing this game for much longer
i know a few languages but i dont know what they're good for so if you'd care to give me any information on them that'd be great
so the ones i'm thinking about are
javascript C++ python idk any other good ones? |

| You need to be more specific, what exactly you want to do? |

@zars
really just looking to get some basic coding experience, maybe a small bit of web design
it seems like something good to know when applying to jobs, an in-demand skill yes? |

You may think that Lua won't be useful, but I've learned quite a lot form Lua. Actually, all my programming knowledge is based on experience I gained from Lua. It's not about the language, more like programming logic, algorithms and bit of general syntax.
If you are thinking only about being able to get job, then I guess you should learn designing sites with HTML/CSS and code them with javascript. |

| Zars has a point. Lua is a very easy and lightweight programming language to learn. It will help you grasp the concept of programming. |

| Schools usually choose to teach programming logic with use of pascal. Believe me, Lua is MUCH more powerful than it. Pascal is specifically made for learning programming logic, and it has no other uses. |

| HTML and CSS won't help you with programming at all. Think of HTML and CSS as blue print for website. |

I'd recommend Java or C++, but it really depends on what you want to do. Go research!
