--Scientific way-- Thirty years ago, the concept of an Internet was just an idea shared by a few scientists. There were no computer networks anywhere. People at that time used computers as calculators, not to communicate. Scientists who needed to share their ideas began to explore ways to expand the computer's role. --My way-- The internet was created by the government during world war II. The purpose of its creation was to make a way so soldiers during world war II could communicate to other solider fighting in the war. In many years, it has evolved and has many reasons for it's creation, mostly used for entertainment. -First and similar way-- The Internet, as we know it today, has evolved over many years and numerous people have contributed to its development. The Internet is not owned by any one person or any one company.
The Internet had its beginnings during the Second World War when technologies such as radar, electronics and early computing machines were invented. During the Cold War, in the United States, millions of dollars were poured into research and development.
In the 1960s, the US Government was using a centralised system to communicate military information. The threat of nuclear war at the time led them to consider how they could avoid losing all communication if this system was damaged or destroyed during an attack.
The US Government set about designing a non-centralised system that would keep working even if one or more of the computers on this system were damaged or destroyed. It was proposed that if all the information were constantly moving from one computer to another in various parts of the world, the chances were that at least some of the information could be saved and communication lines could remain open.
Luckily, there was no nuclear war. Eventually, the idea of using a non-centralised communication system led to the development of what we now call the Internet. |

Tim Berners-Lee, who is British, created the World Wide Web.
You can find pictures on the internet and on one of Vsauce's videos of the first ever web server. |

| @slick, that would not solve the problem. This is taking up thread space that could be used for legit posts. |

| Well, Tim Berners-Lee didn't invent the Internet, but in 1990 he created HTML (HyperText Markup Language) and then he created the WWW (the World Wide Web). |
