my parents said not to download anything because our AVG free trial or some thing like that has stopped working
i ask my mom if i can download avast which is the highest rated program for virus protection in the world
she makes a huge fit about how avast couldn't protect you from everything (what makes her blindly trust avg, i do not know) and that rambles on about stuff that she believes to already be viruses.
she also blames any glitches on viruses |

| my dad thinks i might have somehow downloaded a virus while going on amazon to look for a used game. We did get a virus but I find it almost impossible that I did it. |

| Avast is a good program, however, I just use Malwarebytes... And even then... I don't get viruses. |

oh we all have those parents.
Anything to do with computers in the house is automatically my domain, and if anything stops working they expect me to know whats exactly wrong with it and how to fix it.

@zoo
Not really, my dad is quite good at using a PC... However, if he needs help he usually goes straight to me. I guess parents like that are just rare... But whatever. I also have a friend whose dad is good with PC hardware and such, and can fix dead HDDs and other things. |

If they don't pay for an antivirus program and don't trust the free ones either then they deserve viruses. But seriously, common sense goes a long way to preventing viruses.
It sounds like you need to have a serious talk with your mum about these things and hint to her just how little she actually knows about this. |

i don't know. she just gets really paranoid about that kind of thing because she saw this one thing on the news, where a kid downloaded something and bought 1000s of pounds worth of ingame cash with his grandad's credit card i've tried to tell her that the kid was just an idiot, but she doesn't listen. |

Also, my friend told me his computer was slow, so I decided to download Malwarebytes and all that, but of course I didn't finish.
And then he said his computer was slower, and when he got rid of the programs, he said it was all gone.
He just can't accept that I'm smarter then him at technology. |

@TheAsassin.
Right, my father seems to think the more things you have on a hard-drive, the slower it goes. Same for icons on the desktop. |
