Having played the NHL 14 demo for a couple days now, I felt like making a small review of it here.
I noticed a couple things right off the bat when I started playing: Player movement seems a lot smoother and the puck travels a bit faster on shots. Passing also seems crisper and more accessible than in NHL 13.
The gameplay improvements made to NHL 14 from what I've seen in the demo all seem to work out quite well. The hitting is a bit more realistic but at times it seems like it's a bit overreactive with players sent flying, arms askew as if they were knocked out. But overall the hitting is better and you have to actually get some speed and position yourself for a good, hard hit.
Fighting. I love it. The way they improved fighting for NHL 14 is 100% better than the button mashing fest of the previous years and you have to actually concentrate on the fight and plan out your moves. Overall it's a lot more fun and better implemented. The way you can get into fights now is a lot more realistic as well. If you take a shot at the other teams goalie, another player will go after you. If you check a star player or maybe get a late hit that isn't called by the ref, another player will fight you. If you run the goalie the other team will fight you. If the other team does any of these things to you, you are also given the option to drop the gloves right then as well.
One Touch Dekes. I like the new one touch dekes, there seem to be only 3 of them actually in the game but they do provide for a quick nice deke and when executed well it looks awesome. The old dekes are still in the game.
Shooting. Shooting seems to have been upgraded in a sense. When you shoot, if you've got a clear angle and get a nice shot off, the puck goes a lot faster than it than in past years and it looks pretty nice.
Passing. As I said before, passing is a lot nicer in NHL 14. You can make more passes and it just all works a lot nicer than in NHL 13. The best way to se how they work is to just play it for yourself but I like the passing a lot more.
Overall NHL 14 has a lot of wel implemented gameplay improvements that make the game a lot more fun to paly than NHL 13. I'll be buying it.. just like every other year.
Also... a fun thing to do: When the opposite team dumps the puck in your end, take control of your goalie, rush the opposing player, and watch the goalie bounce. Good stuff right there. ------------ tl;dr: NHL 14 has better gameplay than NHL 13.
If you want me to touch on anything else, post about it. |

This might be the first NHL game I've gotten since NHL 11.

Tchapman - Yeah, it's pretty impressive.
I've owned all the games from '99-'09 then '11-'13
I've played a few of the the older versions as well. '94 on up. |

| They also improved puck chops so you can aim it now, and you can actually shoot right after a spin, Backhands are useful, and few other stuff I don't remember right now |
