Well, say hello to my first RP in... months? Something like that.

---

London, late 1800's

It was late evening in London. The moon had begun its ascent, and stars speckled the hazy skies. An occasional horse-drawn carriage rumbled by, and laughter resonated through the streets, but for the most part the streets were empty, and as peaceful as the River Thames.

From his place at the second story window, a small child watched a lone woman shuffle down the avenue with several books tucked under her arm. Her white blouse seemed to glow in the murkiness of the night like a ghost, and the boy ducked away from the window in fear. With haste, the woman passed a servant lighting a street lamp, and halted at a curb, where a simple brick building sat squarely on the corner of two avenues. She climbed the stairs to the front door, and slipped inside.

The library was exceptionally small, but still offered a variety of literary works. The main foyer was circular, with high shelves lining the walls. A balcony was suspended several feet above the main floor, with smaller shelves skirting the walls. A library assistant stood on a high rung of a library ladder, busy restocking the shelves. Only one other woman was present- the librarian, who had her head bent over the front desk, delicately rebinding a worn book.

The librarian looked up as the woman approached, and said flatly, "May I help you?"

"I'd like to return these books," replied the woman, setting the stack of books on the desk.

"Alright, just leave them there," said the librarian in a monotone voice. "I've some other business to attend to. Elinor, come give me a hand in the back!"

The library assistant gave a brief nod and shuffled down the ladder with a book pressed to her chest, following swiftly through a door near the back of the building. As they withdrew from the lobby, the visitor turned to leave, and was startled to find an older gentleman in a waistcoat scrutinizing her from the entrance.

The woman flashed him a delicate smile and diverted her eyes away as she began to pass him.

"W-wait, ma'am," the man uttered. "I, ah..." As he scratched his bald scalp with one hand, he withdrew a small book with his other. The book was in decent condition with an olive cover. A white, cursive title was printed on the cover: "Terra Anew". He offered the novel to the woman. "I implore you to read this, madam. It's an delightful work of fiction; more than that though, it will give you a whole new perspective on life. The world is so beautifully portrayed through the text, it invokes a sensational, emotional, and even physical response from its reader. I swear it, you will almost feel as though you are living the experience."

"Oh... do you work here?" the woman inquired skeptically.

"You might say that," the man mused.

The woman shook her head. "I'm much obliged, sir, but I just returned some books, and I couldn't possibly afford to borrow any more."

"You needn't worry," the stranger assured. "This is my own copy, and I would be more than happy to loan it to you."

The woman shifted her head to the back of the store. "Well, that's quite thoughtful of you, but you must understand that I couldn't possibly borrow a book from a stranger. I wouldn't know where to find you, or contact you otherwise. I should really be getting home- Oh!"

As she turned back around, the gentleman was gone, and lying at her feet was the copy of "Terra Anew" the figure had offered her so insistently. She stooped down to retrieve the book and discovered a note tagged to the back cover:

"Madam,

I have left for some urgent affairs I must attend to, but I've left for you the novel, in case you have second thoughts about my offer. Don't worry about returning it until you have read it from cover to cover. You will likely find my nose in a book here every evening. Take your time, and relish this beautifully-woven story.

Regards,
C. W. Alexanders"

The woman caressed the front cover with her fingertips, and hesitated only briefly before exiting the library and hastening home with the novel tucked securely under her shoulder.

An excerpt from "Terra Anew":

"...and as if awakened by a brilliant ray of light of a new dawn, the nine curious terrestrial beings awoke from their long, boundless slumber. New life was brought into the world; at the present, it was the only known life. The world had been immersed in grey, that numbed every life form and halted every breeze. The earth herself was at a standstill, static and unchanging, and above all, eerie. This was the world as the terrestrials knew it- a world encased in stone, a world where life was surely on the borderline of extinction. The chance of survivors was betwixt and between. Despite all of this, though, the terrestrials were there- whereupon life would indeed carry on."

CHARACTERS

THE SHAMAN - A male terrestrial being that practices healing magic. He resembles that of an elf, although his skin is olive green, his head is bare for the most part, and his crimson red eyes are narrow slits. Four broad leaves sprout from his head, forming a sort of natural headdress. The shaman wears a shawl made of thick bark, and a grass skirt around his waist. He wears a mask made of bark that covers the bridge of his nose and above. Identical leaves carved into the mask branch out near the top. His ears are pierced with small wooden ear spools. While the shaman specializes in healing magic, he is still a capable fighter. He is equipped with a wooden rod that's dressed in vines. A pocket is carved into the rod's topmost point to hold a blue-green gem that harbors magic.

THE TREANT - A male oak treant several inches taller and wider than the average male human. His dark green foliage covers his hunched back. His face consists of two knots that serve as eyes, and a broad split in the bark that serves as his mouth. His shoulders, arms and legs are covered in patches of moist moss. The treant has relatively large feet consisting of three toes on each. His hands consist of four elongated fingers. He has a long, shaggy beard of moss that sways below his stiff chin.

THE WOMAN OF VINES - A female terrestrial being that can manipulate the vines to which she's bound. The assailant has a slim figure, with olive skin like the shaman's. Her eyes are a deep shade of green, much darker than her skin tone, or even the vines in which she's dressed. As revealed before, this being is wrapped in vines that, although substitute as clothes, are physically united to her skin. Normally, the only area of her skin that is exposed is her face. The vines near the back of her head entwine together to form a curve that hangs loosely behind her back. If not equipped with a weapon, she can substitute her arms as capable blades.

THE FAWN - A moderately short fawn with a human's upper body, and a wooden lower frame. His legs are made purely from maple wood, connected directly to his hooves. The fawn's curly hair is a light brown, and his eyes a deep shade of blue. A small brown goatee rests on his narrow chin. A pair of relatively small hollow horns protrude from his thick, unkempt hair. The fawn has a light brown shade of skin, instead of olive green.

THE BEAST TAMER - A male terrestrial being that tames a beast relative to a wolf. The beast tamer has a large build that aids him in battle. He has a light brown shade of skin and black shoulder-length hair. His eyes are remarkably yellow, and his face quite pudgy. He wears an assortment of wooden armour, consisting of a breastplate, a helm, shoulder plates, bracers (arm coverings), a mantle, and greaves (leg coverings). He wears a simple pair of brown sandals, as well. As mentioned above, the beast is particularly very wolf-like. Its body is made of a collection of gnarled roots and branches, with a coat of dark green grass that substitutes as its pelt. The beast's jaw is lined with serrated wooden teeth. Its legs are made of bark, as well, with several twigs protruding from the wood. The wolf's head is bare for the most part, where its wooden frame is visible. The tail resembles a thin branch, consisting of leaves and smaller, thinner branches. The beast is roughly the size of a black bear.

THE CENTAUR - A dark green, male centaur with a front half that is more identical to a goblin than a human. His skin is is like a tough fabric, and roots bulge through his skin, similar to how a human's veins are visible when their muscles are bulged. The centaur is notably hunchbacked, and his green skin arches over his head, pulled tight over his bald scalp like a shroud. The centaur's back is is overgrown with a white moss, as well as his thick arms. Bundles of leaves overlay sections of his chest. Like the fawn, the centaur's back - or, his horse half - is made entirely of maple wood, with a tail overgrown with leaves. His eyes are strikingly red, quite visible in the night.

THE BARBARIAN - A male terrestrial being with a massive build. This large brute has an olive skin tone and dark green irises. Although bald, the barbarian has a knotted grey beard and a pair of hollow, light brown horns that curl slightly around his head. On one shoulder blade, he wears animal hide that may have once belonged to a grizzly bear. On the other, he wears several layers of wooden shoulder armour. A leather sash crosses his bare chest, lined with white fur. On the lower half of his body, he wears a green-brown kilt also made of animal hide. The barbarian wields a sort of club contrived of gnarled roots. The roots encase a thick chunk of stone on the top of the club.

THE DRUID - A male terrestrial being that practices earth magic. Like many other terrestrials, the druid has olive skin that conflicts with the stone grey terrain. His shoulder-length hair is obsidian black, as well as his thick mustache and beard. The druid wears a skull of a ram on a necklace, with its horns tied together toward the back of his neck; beneath that, he wears a decorative wreath woven from vines that covers most of his chest. Leather armlets with feathers tied to them ornament his arms; a similar trinket is wrapped around one of his legs. A ring-shaped animal's pelt adorns his left arm. The druid also wears wooden shoulder plates, a kilt of various shades of brown over a pair of trousers overlaid with brown animal hide, a simple pair of brown sandals, and a skull helmet that had once belonged to a fox, with two deer antlers connected to the skull. To top it all off, the druid is equipped with a wooden staff that creates a cresent moon shape at the top; the curve is just large enough to hook one's wrist through it. Leather bindings are strapped around the staff near the top, with feathers and several small stones linked to the bindings. The stones are engraved with various symbols that channel the druid's earth magic.

THE NYMPH - A female terrestrial/aquatic being with a pale green skin tone, and leathery skin. The woman's feet are webbed, though her hands are not. Her eyes are green slits spaced further apart than an average human's. The nymph's head is bare, and her ears resemble that of a fish's fins. She wears a dress made of algae and seaweed, and pieces of moss cover various areas of her skin. Another notable quality about the nymph is that her nose is flatter and smaller than the average human's.

RULES AND NOTES

Standard ROBLOX rules apply.

Standard Role-playing rules apply.

Since there is a limited number of pre-made characters, you may be a terrestrial being or a survivor of the curse cast over the world. The choice is yours.

Throughout the course of this RP, your objective is to to discover what's become of the world, who's responsible, and things of that nature.

Please be active. If you are not active and your character is a terrestrial, they will likely be given up to anyone who wants them.

If you are a terrestrial being, you will still need to fill out the character sheet labeled "Terrestrial" to fill in some character gaps.

Please include character names in each post so that we can learn one another's names more easily.

fIf you do not want to make a terrestrial character immediately, you may reserve one of the terrestrials.

In case you're wondering, the terrestrials were born from a seed charmed by a magician of sorts. The seed was planted before the event that turned the world to stone, and thus it managed to sprout and grow, producing the nine terrestrials.

Antagonists will be revealed during the course of the RP.

(Accepted. I won't reserve a character yet in case there are some others that are interested in joining as a terrestrial. By the way, sorry there are so few female terrestrials. My main priority was giving each character some earthly quality.)

(@Hollywood- Either one is fine.

@Super- Well, if I had to label this RP with a particular genre, I'd label it as "dark fantasy". The terrestrials are earth-based creatures that were created to track down the one(s) that are responsible for turning everything and everyone present in the world to stone. That may be a bit vague, but we'll make this interesting. There could be survivors, areas unaffected by the curse, various antagonists that are associated with the main antagonist, et cetera.)
